Ok im getting my hands on sheets of 1mtr but 4mtr by 100mm polystyrene as packing of foam cored roof sheets from straco so don't know the density but i reckon its pretty dense as its seems strong &
Its massively expensive to take to the tip & I just wanted to know if people would be interested .
just this week I've gotten rid of 7 sheets like that.
If I didn't have so many other projects on i would build a board myself.
So if anyone in Sydney wants to come pick it up I'll save it.
Break it up stick it in a bin a pour some thinners/petrol over it, the thinners/petrol will dissolve it into a syrup the size pf a coffee cup, found this out by accident![]()
That's not toxic at all.
I've also tried this and you need way more petrol than you think. I'm not sure if it's a good idea.
ps , If glueing slabs of foam together to make a board , choose your glue carefully . I once used expanda foam in a can because it is cheap , sticks well and thought it isn't too hard for shaping . But it did leave a hard layer that made shaping ****ty. In the end all went well , board was finished. Left it in the sun for one minute and it blew up like a balloon. Totally ruined .
It was the expanda foam . It off gassed a huge amount when it got warm . Won't be doing that again . If I was to glue slabs of foam together now I would use a thick q cell thickened resin . It surprisingly shapes OK against soft eps . You have to be careful and it's still a bit ****ty .
I appreciate that Imax I actually have a box of qcell
I got to many other projects on before I can use it hence asking if anyone else wants it.
