Pelican Point Summer Twilight Series
10th and 17th of December.

14th, 21st and 28th of January.

Briefing 5.50 Start 6.00pm

Check out the pictures from last week below and results at www.windforce.com.au

We are organizing a Wednesday night twilight series during December and January. Why should the Yachties have all the fun?

* This is just for fun and is designed to attract sailors that want a bit of fun not for the ultra competitive.

* We will get on the water at 6.00 whatever the wind.
o Windy = slalom/freeride gear.
o Light = big boards.
o Super Light = Stick your rig on a SUP (Stand Up Paddle board)
o No Wind = Sup Race (board and paddle supplied)

We will be starting and will have a course to sail as per a normal race, so you can get the feel of how racing works. We will have a number of the top sailors sailing, so you can pick up a few tips and we will have a score board to put your finishing position. So it is great training for the real thing.

Ever tried using a GPS to record your highest speed? Windsurfing WA has six GPS units that are available to borrow, so you can see how your speed compares with other sailors. We will keep the results and see how you improve during the season

In the same way the yacht clubs attract experienced and experienced sailors all just wanting to have some fun we are going to do the same. Bring down some mates or come down by yourself everyone welcome

Don't forget to bring along some drinks and nibbles so we can all catch up latter for a chat. We might even organise some pizza for the first week.

SMALL PRINT
This is not an organised race. it is a social get together that is all about being safe and having fun. Every sailor is responsible for their own safety and should only sail within their capabilities. Be aware at all times of other water users, it is your responsibility to be safe on the water. By suggesting this get together we are in no way taking any responsibility for yours or others safety.

Yep, it was a great afternoon. Guys and gals of all levels joining in and having fun. The format seems to be working very well.

Well done to all the people who showed up and had a go.

Big thanks to Ian and Garry for setting up and providing the refreshments. Great effort again and much appreciated. Looking forward to the next one!

What board you going to use - nice crash redtop. Second place Steve S.

dunno Novak... I heard Steve's catapault was pretty good. Mine was quite the stack too (I was doing 31kts square to the wind according to the GPS), but fortunately the harness line gave before the boom disintegrated. Unfortunately the RDM I was using delivered a rather serious blow to the nose of my board. Maybe SDMs are better for catapaults...

Thanks for organising this guys.

My first real tilt at racing (on a sailboard, raced cats many years ago) and I'm hooked!

Just need to work on the gybes and my pumping technique. Looking forward to next week.

Great to meet so many like minded and very capable sailors. Helps to improve your own skills by racing next to these guys.
hope the next one blows just as hard

Thanks again Ian, Garry and the other organisers, it is fantasic to have some good racing among a great group of sailors.

For anyone thinking about having a go next time; just do it! If you want to get better, this is THE BEST way to go about it.

Guys I have just posted a few photos from Wednesday night, I was about a second too late getting Chris's big stack.

I will have the full results up on the Windforce website ASAP.

Been a long time since Slowboat has been snapped swimming Ian. From the look on Chris's face you definately aren't in his will.

It would be great to set this kind of thing up somewhere like pinneroo as well on a different night.

I'm up for it at Pinaroo,

Twice round the island, dodge the teabaggers, loser buys the beer.

I would be there with bells on but living in Bunbury makes it hard to come up mid week and earn a living as well

Nebbian. There are enough sailors there who would want to I expect. you could just use one of the yellow waterski markers. drop something else out 500 meters out. I was wondering whether it would be possible to drop a small bright polestyrene buoy and small anchor from a windsurf board at the start of the session, and then bring it back in. and round up a few guys for a simple beach start.

The guys at Kanaha in Maui regularly sail out and drop marker buoys for slalom racing so it can definitely be done. You need a floaty board.
