Just going back to Crash's original post talking about glass that looked like Carbon Fibre . I was discussing board construction with Gunter Lorch last night and I mentioned this subject . Apparently Technora (brand name) make a technora/kevlar cloth that has black technora fibres . It looks almost identical to the 3K carbon / kevlar cloth .
He was certainly not suggesting that substitution was happening ,I want to make that clear , just that if it was it would be difficult to tell.
So maybe what JP are suggesting in that advert that Crash refers to , is that they are using real 3k carbon / kevlar and that "other" brands are using technora/kevlar .
Interesting .

from what i understand, most of the JP boards are technora/kevlar only, but some have carbon bottoms? I saw somehwere that the xcite-ride and slaloms are carbon? It seems JP are actually quite proud of their technora/kevlar combo built boards, like it is superior to carbon and other composite weaves for durability, but possibly slightly heavier. I certainly can't complain about the weight of the freestyle99 which is technora/kevlar as it is very light for such a big board, but it is lacking alot of paint on the deck

had the same trouble with my carve , i was told they were bullet proof because of the tectnora but first ride came in with a nice dent in the nose, i rang auswind about a nose protector and was told they didnt have any and if they did wouldent sell me one anyway, so built my own very easy to build ,slip a strong garbo bag over the nose and tape lay up fibre glass matt and resin three layers of cross weave , make sure it over hangs the nose when it sets just pull bag and glass of the board comes of easy ,trim with grinder paint two libral coates of flow coate over out side only sand smooth , apply bathroom white slicon sealant to the protector arond the edge on the in side push on let set its there and wont come of , if you want to remove it you have cut the slicon with a razor blade cheers bazz email if you need any help
