I will be launching a video contest soon for my group of windsurfing friend in France.
This will only be a local contest but still I hope it has a great success in order to make it bigger the next years.
The main idea is that windsurf is not going to develop by itself. It will only do with the help of all of us. Competition is one thing that is definitly good for the grear and windsurfers performance still I doubt it will bring to this sport new commers it needs...
In France the only effort made by the windsuring brands and shop are always about organising a new competition. I wanted to open an alternative way. Creating small film contest to make the windsurf more visible on the net and in the mind of all poeple that will watch.
The need for a small contest for a good start is simple : people don't know how to film and to make or realise them. Most people also don't know that is very simple to make something short and fun to wacht.
I'm just bigginer in film making and I only use a very classic computer and the sheapest softwear you can find. This soft is event free to use and tu upload: Microsoft movie maker 2012
The contest will help people with the use of this soft hoing the will enjoy doing it and understand the technics. Movie maker will be the only soft autorised in order to have a fare way to judge all films... same option or effect for everyone.
The length is limited 1 to 3 mn max.
Only members of the group will vote for the 5 first films. All films will have additional points given in proportion of the number of views. this to make sure people learn how to distribute their film and make it bigger and bigger on the net.
More windsurfeurs with films making skills = more windsurf on the net and in the mind of non converted humans ;)

Its good to have amateur videos out there. Friends and family are happy to see windsurfing with people they know in it. These videos are usually a bit different to pros going out off Maui on huge surf. They can show more of the fun and social side of windsurfing which to me is a plus. Do more people like cats because of utube?
I can't compete in this comp and I use Apple's film editor, iMovie. I have to get off my arse and make a clip about the big Tuesday at Lake George.
I loved this clip. The sense of fun really came through. Looks like a great place to sail as well. More power to you.

Yes normal every day windsurf is good to see on the net. I want more of it.
Video contest few years ago...... I think things are different today, aspecialy with the amazing amount of waterproof cameras the are flooding the market. It's deffinitly somthing windsurfers should use to show how a normal personne can have fun in a very simple way with his friend. To show how amazing it is to ride on the sea surrounded by fabulous landscape...
I also shared a lot of video from pros to my friends.... the first time the watched 10 seconde but from the third time they stoped watching saying it was alway the same thing with guys they don't know doing thing impossible.
Now that i'm actor of my windsurf movie they all watch again and replies. A bit of fun and humour with nice vues of places they use to go on the beach and bimmmmmm they all want to try windsurf this summer.
I want to see about your funboarding in Australia... make fun boys....
