I have just had my registration approved for the Defi wind starting in 2 weeks. Any one else from oz crazy enough to cart 50kg of gear all the way to Europe for this ? Mainly doing to enjoy the vibe of 1500 windsurfers all in none place and just hoping my body is up to 10km long runs (40Km races) 
Anyone done recently and offer any advice including on clever ways to may 55kg magically appear as 49KG on the airport scales

its a bucket list item forsure, what gear did you decide to take?
I went a few years ago and hired equipment there. It worked out really well. Try www.akila-centers.com/nautique-gruissan/activite/windsurf/ they have Fanatic board and Duotone rigs. The website is french but they will probably be able to deal with you in english on email. Easier than lugging stuff around the rest of your trip. Have a great time.
Been several times, but i reside a little closer. But Australia is still home.
