Good luck to all making this year's epic event! Special mention to Dave and Geoff making the trip over from Tassie! Wish we could join you!
Anyone else from Australia going??
I am![]()
Will arrive in Gruissan on the 23rd, gear arrives with the Surfcenter a few days later. Looking forward to getting on the go fast gear again![]()
Getting on the big silver bird and making the trek over from The Gorge in a few hours. Defi gear is already waiting at the beach, bringing a JP Speed 45 for some speed magic at La Palme. I feel the need!
Cookie's already in Europe travelling around and I'll get there on Saturday. Can't wait to be a part of all the excitement! Great to see you hitting the fin gear again Jayson! I'm also getting gear from Surfcenter, hopefully pick it all up on the Monday. Roo, I have your Cherry Ripes - will be hand delivered from AUS.
I believe Slowboat is going to be there as well with the rest of the Tribal crew. Looking forward to seeing how all the action unfolds.
Good luck guys, hope you have a nice powered up and clean run, and a good puff of wind for a run on the 45 Roo
Wicked guys!! Keep us updated as best you can, will be awesome to be apart of! Not only the racing but the atmosphere and being apart of such a huge community of windsurfers ![]()

Yes! I'd love to see the Aussie's take on it all. YouTube vids please guys!
I hope the wind forecast improves. Wind guru currently aligns the best wind with the kite and wing races.
I just arrived with my 45kg of gear and hopefully iver the jet lag for a session this afternoon. Will try and keep a lookout for the test of you guys. Great to see so many make the trip over. I did last year but didn't run into many aussie's so let's make a night of it some time.
First day on the water yesterday. The wind didn't come in until around 5pm. I rigged my biggest gear (iSonic 63, MACH7 6.5 and a Chopper 36 fin). Wind was quite west and gusty (18-23 knots) making it tricky to get out, sailed until after 8pm and it was still sunny and warm. Fantastic experience being part of it all. ![]()

Training in full swing by the looks! gpsteamchallenge.com.au/sailor_session/show?date=2025-05-26&team=27
How's ROO?! Cherry ripes handed over ? Haha

Hey AUS02,
Could you do me a massive favour? I'd love to know how they are mounting those flags (especially the smaller ones) in the sand and what they are using as poles? Any chance you could get a few pics and post them here?
Cheers!!

The larger poles are treated pine posts and look permanent with power and lights to illuminate the flags. The smaller one are old two-piece windsurf masts, as you can see the joins. They look as though they go down quite a way into the sand.

Legend thanks!
I also reached out to Ben Proffitt and he said the masts slide over some rebar that is nailed into the sand.
Really appreciate the photos. Have an awesome time mate!
We're about 15 minutes drive away from the beach in the township of Gruissan (in a two bedroom apartment). We've had a van at the beach to leave the gear in and a car to drive to and from the event. Works well, as you have all the dining spots in Gruissan. It would be good to be right at the beach though, if you could book one of the small two-story houses.

I'm keen to organise a trip next year. Any tips? do you stay a bit away to get a flat?
Also had accommodation about 15 minutes away. Next year will book a house near Av de la Jetee. Will also enter through Surfcenter again. Gear rental is awesome (no travel issues), in addition having access to extra events and VIP treatment made it an experience to remember. See you at the Defi![]()
Wind died and didn't come back .... had a great 3 days sailing prior though. The 10km runs with hundreds of other sailors made it worthwhile![]()
