I'm thinking of going down to Currumbin this Saturday, hear it is a good spot for both waves and flatwater (me for now). Big, big bonus points for me because I can take the family along to play on the beach instead of leaving them at home to fend for themselves.
Saturday looks good, 20-25kt Southerley, but how safe is the flatwater section for a novice like myself? I don't particularly want to get swept out into a 3m swell just yet. Does it work in a Southerly or is it too protected?
I assume I'll be able to watch some surf action too?
In a southerly there isn't really any flat water to sail as the estuary is blocked by the hill, in a NE there is a small amount of flat water and you can sail in onshore surf conditions outside.
I would say the pic is a bit old, cause even at high tide there was more sand there last time I was down there.
I am planning to be down there at least on Saturday, if not Sunday as well.
