Hi does anyone live in Coffs? The graphs always show that is a cranking seabreeze up there this summer, is it? or is the wind meter in a weird spot?
I don't live there but that cranking seabreeze is real- well perhaps a little less than actually shown- but they definitely get more with than most spots o the North Coast.
Today for example it's blowing 20 plus there, and a cruel 8-14 tops here in SWR's. 80 kays may as well be 3000...
I have sailed there a lot. My sister lives there, so it is always a stop to/from Qld road trip.
Not sure where the wind graph is but it seems to get wind pretty consistently.
Best is flat top - Woopi, can be sailed in NE and SW, S, SE. Best is straight south imo.
GM1 is the expert, although he is not on the forum too often.

Park Beach in Coffs must be one of the windiest spots on the coast.

When BOM for Coffs Airport shows wind speed 18knot NE and the sun is shining Park Beach is 5.3 to 5.7m2 weather.
In a NE Flatrock/Woopi is arguably way better in terms of water state / waves and wind direction and Park Beach detractors would claim it is lumpy out back and dumpy on the shore (which it is). But it in the spring / summer NE it always at least a sail size (and probably two sizes) windier than Flatrock.
Today Flatrock would have probably been pretty good, but I'd guess you would have needed a 5.7m2. I was there at 11am swimming with the kids and it wasn't sailable. One kite tried to launch but for the time I watched he just flopped about on the beach. There were clouds over the hills so I figured the wind wouldn't get too strong. Hence Park Beach is a better bet. I was probably wrong and probably should have gone to Flatrock. Instead I got a lumpy bumpy (but windy) low tide Coffs Creek / Park Beach almost to myself.
4.7, that's great for a NE. Park seems to get really strong for NE but southerly is ....
Wenona head north of Nambucca cranks in NE, needs south/SE swell.

Sounds good in Coffs today Jerry. Probably should have shot up for a run. 3 days in a row now SWR's is blowin' 20 knots- at 8.30 pm... May have to invest in a waterproof head torch.
Cool, thanks guys. I have sailed flat rock a few times, just looks heaps windier up there than down the coast. Might have to head up when a good forecast come through.
Benny and I get out a few times every week pretty much on average.
Sawtell is good in a North easter, and is sailable in a southerly as well. Sailed there wed thursday after work and was fantastic.
The Harbour is also sailable and can go in Northerly or southerly. We have gear from 4mt up to 9mt; it's a rare week I don't get a planing session.
