Here's a little bit of footage from yesterday down at Woodies of Chris Lockwood sailing south side http://exposureroom.com/members/helifotos/f385abefc049419e94343729f87c8118/
Nice pictures, but average filming, it could have been anywhere, Lord Howe, Greece...
Lots of of sport movies are generally filmed too close (for too long). It's interesting for the moves and techniques but it then lacks of ambience and wide sense of the place. Just like too many slow motions can ruin a good wave or ride.
nice work Col
loved the pics!
especially the 3rd one that shows the fungus growing on the tail of the board!!![]()

The editor is a tease.
All I want to see is Chris's magic gybe, so there it is, oversheet, lay down, drag the clew in the water slightly, push through it, sail goes to the outside of the gybe...
...and CUT????????
Damn. I wanna see more!
Yup !!
Nebs, end of the gybe isn't there because its not wise to put the tail rotor into the wind which we would have had to do to film the gybe - going the other way was possible but we left before the gybe. Is that O.K. We'll do a gybe sequence next time, just have to find someone who can!
Yeah yeah allright Col we'll let you off this time.
It's easy to overlook the huge amounts of technology, skill and experience that brought us that vid, and easy to criticise when I have no idea how it's all done.
Nice job, anyway ![]()
dont worry you missed nothing. It was a crap gybe- there was a lull when I went in and I stalled. When Col went to video mode for my last run the wind had switched off. I was quite underpowered on the video run back in (port tack). Going out (starboard tack) was OK at first but not really powered up. There was more wind when he was taking stills. My eyesight wasnt good enough to know what he had the camera set to at the time :) I didnt know he was doing video... Thanks for risking your lens Col! They have been known to spontaneously crack when exposed to my face. ![]()
Nebs, tell me if this video of Jesper gybing is of any help to you
its a timelapse, whipped up for you this morning.
