Friend of mine where I used to sail on the north shore of Chicago, Evanston, tells me that the beach has banned wings because they are "kites." Kiteboarding is banned there. Shame. The Chicago area is infamous for restrictive beach rules. It wasn't until the 1990s that Chicago allowed windsurfing and some surfing. And a surfer was once arrested in his wetsuit and handcuffed for going out at a popular downtown beach.
Curious if wings face the same restrictions in other areas.
I saw some crazy wingdinger down the GC on FB using one on a skateboard in the middle of the street in the middle of a pandemic do all sorts of crazy stunts.![]()

if someone were forced to categorize, it as windsurfing or kiting, someone did push to shove so to speak, and put it into kiting. I wonder what the problem was with it, probably someone who has a problem with someone else having fun.lots of lakes in that area.
