We normally stay in a on site van at Sunsets, but this year decide to join Hardy at Coro, hired a caravan up there from midwest caravan hire for $220 a week, Coro cost $6 a day for first week $10 a day for 2nd week. $30 to get gas bottle refiled. Plus saved on petrol going out there each day.
Tried leaving sails rigged under a tree, but had to keep moving them to follow the shade, found it easier to downrig. A big tarp and sandbags, is probably the go if you want to leave sails rigged.
cheap! the council scoundrels have doubled the prices! Fiver last yr for corros!
sunset wont let you have an unpowered camping anymore, you got pay $25, for a powerd caravan site even if your on ya todd in a single tent. (30 in the backpackers!)
ha ha winge winge winge
at least the sailing is free ![]()
sunset are old farts who are only interested in old fart grey nomads.. they had an absolut weapon of a manager there last summer, he would storm up to the camp kitchen at 10:30pm and order everyone to go to bed cause the old folk r tryin to sleep.. and the grounds keeper has a bad case of small mans syndrome.. 10 bucks a night for corros??!!! thats a jip aswell.. im gunna camp in the flippin street this year...
$30 a night in the backpackers with "secure parking", ocean views and um.... backpackers! ![]()
(or make friends with some locals - thanks, you know who you are

want to make it cheaper get your car on gas
this years trip up to gloo $210 in gas and that is there & back
Good thinking spot, but don't think I've got enough room in the Corolla.
How do they fit the tank in a small station wagon, any ideas?
Buy a diesel. Run it on pure used fish n chip oil (filtered to get the bits out) + 5 to 7% turpentine. Gnaraloo and back for $20 hell yeah. Forget biodiesel and gas etc
Mr Cheap is mah middle naaame
Back in the UK, thay actually used to sell those (filtered out bits). A delicacy for the fattys [}:)]

Hi Decrep,
I'm curious to know why they charged you more for the 2nd week ?

can anyone advise do u have to book for a camp site at coronations or do you just rock up and setup?
can anyone advise who to talk to eg council?
I'm thinking of a camping holiday for the family
Also is it possible to ride minibikes (crf100) around there for the kids? I cant go anywhere without the minbike?
cheers
poida
Sorry poida you can't book, and you can only stay 30 nights each year. If it's full when you rock up, it's back to town and pay full rates, unless you can temporarily camp off the main road somewhere.
As far as bikes go, as long as the speed limit is observed, can't see how they could stop you, there's also the beach.
I can introduce my family to camping in a carpark/track at a surfbreak while dad goes surfing and sailing, well... maybe a few days anyway.
I think I better have a backup plan with a pool and bar.
Just make sure they understand there's no water or power, the toilets are chemical-drop, (but clean and don't smell).
There are shower stalls where you can hang up your own "store in the sun black plastic personel showers"
While the easterly blows the flies are bad, so take those hat mounted flynets.
There's only one big tree to provide shade, (yeah that's where hardy and I camped).
I'll post my googleearth gps tracks, resolution isn't brilliant, but it gives you an idea of the layout. The road has been bitumenised since this googleearth shot.

I thought sailbords would have gone in straighter lines. Did you have a few beers or a quick choof before you went out![]()
Not quite right Windy, the easterly extreemes are in waves big enough to get mast high jumps.
Guess everybody doesn't consider 32kn as fun, but it does get the adrenalin going all the same, especially when you hit those ramps!!!
only twisting ur melon (joking), Decrepit.
i luv honkin down the flats too![]()
but, was a suprised to see you speed sailing heaps more then wave, specially as it was going off. u got the bug![]()

Decrepit, with the skills this guy has and the ability I am still puzzled as to why he hasn't taken up the challenge and gone full bore into speed sailing![]()

All I have to do, get him into Pinna's, and convince him to strap a GPS to his arm when he sails out at the island, and on the way home crrraaank it up![]()
