Well I'm both, if the waters flat and I'm on port tack my PB alpha is 25kts and I only come off if I'm really pushing the limits trying for a 26.
But on starboard tack if it's just a little bit choppy, I'm battling to make a fully planing gybe, if it's more than a little choppy I have trouble staying on.
Hi guys. Some great comments here for me who Is also exactly at this stage.
I sometimes think there are a lot of us at this stage, and some of us have been there for a rather long time.
I've always thought there are two types of sailboarders, those who can gybe well, and those who can't. It really feels like the single most defining skill you can have.
I'm staying dry on more gybes than I'm getting wet these days, but just always suddenly going upwind at the last moment. Thanks for the tips guys, I'll give them a go, and think that I also need to stop trying to stay dry.
Leaving your moves to late. Foot change followed by rig flip as soon as you are pointing downwind. Do that and the board will do the rest.
