funny how things work out,
here is the original thread from 2013;
www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/Windsurfing/General/Canberra-Windsurfers-a-call-to-arms?page=1
the site was developed by Canberra Girls Grammar, they built what appears to be a function centre with some boat storage underneath.
in the last few days a For Lease sign appeared
The right hand side of fjdoug's photo runs into a point from which WS launch. The parking area is smaller than before the development. Although there is more parking nearby. But more of a walk with gear. Can't say whether this is a plus for WS. If the area becomes crowded (week ends) probably not. Possibly yes If it encourages government to improve the public space. And the near by beach area. The agents' advert. notes that the area is filled daily with rowers, cyclists and young families enjoying all that lake has to offer. No mention of dingy sailing, WS, kayakers or SUP. Weekend sailing is big on the lake in the afternoons. Rowers tend to do their thing earlier in the day. The others any time.
I can see it's hard to effectively stop plans of the building in the first place.
Windsurfing recreationally is hard to organize individuals compared to a club with building.
I hope any new tenants aren't too commercially successful that it becomes hard to get parking.
The bonus could be able to get a pre windsurf coffee or after sail beer and food.
