Anyone know how long the trays are in the late model Hiluxs... Hiluxes... Hiluxii?
They don't look long enough to fit a standard size board in, let's say 250cm. Not enough info on the website. No room for roof racks.
They are cheaper than I thought and 4L V6 to boot.

here you go...
Single Cab
Tray Length : 2315 mm
Tray Width : 1520 mm
Tray Height : 450 mm
Xtra Cab
Tray Length : 1805 mm
Tray Width : 1515 mm
Tray Height : 450 mm
Dual Cab
Tray Length : 1520 mm
Tray Width : 1515 mm
Tray Height : 450 mm
Based on that, corner to corner on the single cab is 2800mm and on the xtra cab is 2400mm
Best way, to be absolutely positive, is to take your board down to the dealer and see if it will fit in.
so many variances with board widths at the tail and nose etc. the 'ol try before you buy is the only way ![]()
Yeah, Holden have stuffed the tray for us. They have made it so there is room behind the seats in the cab which means you loose some length in the tray. I used to fit a 250 wave board under the hard cover on a VY Holden ute no worries.
Theres maths and theres trying it.
You will only be able to fit one item corner to corner, everything else will be offset, and the space reduces drastically with distance from the diagonal.
Try it before you invest any thought into getting one.
JB
just drive around with the boards pokin out the back..
much cooler ![]()
KA181 stacks about 243 boards on his ute ![]()
Is that in Aus? I doubt it will pass ADR requirements like that, especially safety issues (airbags sensors etc)
Looks like it was a US site. They're called bed extenders. I had recalled seeing one used for windsurfing gear on a video from Maui. They flip up when you don't have long items forming a handy sort of basket just inside the closed tailgate.
Yeah that looks like the back of a Toyota Tundra, of which there are only a few imports in Australia (and usually cost in the vacinity of $80+K over here).
There were a couple of places selling bed extenders, I remember seeing them on the Nissan site when i was looking at buying a Navara and a company called JHP used to sell them for Holden utes, however no one seems to any more. I assume there are some ADR issues with them. There is usually issues with not having a bumper bar being the furthest forward or rearward part of a vehicle so that may be the reason.
I take it your going to put a lid on the tub? I've got alloy trays in both our hilux's. My boards will just fit longways but with a tub you'll lose a bit of length. If you want to go diagonally you may find the wheel arches will get in the way forcing you to put in diagonally on the rail, where you'll find the width may affect you shuttin the lid. Best thing go to the dealer and see how much you can fit in.
all your stuff will fit in a hilux single cab if you put it sideways (excuse any **** spelling and sentence cause i am a little bit intoxicated)
i have a xg falcon ute and i fit all my gear in it including surfboards with the cover down,
so that's 2 wave boards, and 2 sails, 2 masts, other ****, and 2 surfboards. and a single cab hilux could easily fit all that... that great thing about utes is that you can stack high... got to loves utes.
and people talk family cars.. how many kids can you fit in a ute.. maybe 20
