Back in the old days there weren't any instructions or you tube videos,you just had to kind of try and figure it out for yourself.

In most windsurfing deaths a lifejacket wouldn't make a difference ,but it is wise to wear one anyway.

That looks like some photo shop to me, someone holding up the rig on the other side and then placed on a lake back round picture. Pretty creative. Looks like there are some lines holding him up as well.
