Has anyone had trouble getting a response from ads in Buy & Sell recently? I've sent a few questions to different ads in the last few weeks and not received any response. I've not been making stupid offers, only questions requesting photos etc. Maybe just me but thought I'd put it out there to see if its a common problem.

^^^ so u have no idea if the buy n sell messaging system works like Stu asked, but you think seabreeze is crap. nice

I think the buy n sell here is awesome, safer than some idiot you don't know on gumtree or ebay. I have always bought from here by sending hundreds of bucks off for an unseen item, always had it arrive, always had a pleasant experience as this is a great community.

it is a bloody top service.

I like SB sell&buy but I have always problem finding something. I just have small suggestion to administrator to look at that at free time.
I suggest to allow the search by two key words may solve the problem

for example "sail" + "brand"

SAIL + SEVERNE

at this moment we could seach only by SAIL or by SEVERNE alone

fin + tutle

Usually search by single word brings too much unrelated results, and we are back to time consuming browsing whole topis ; for example : boards or accessories to find a fin we are looking for.

This is way at this moment it is much easier to find item you look for on eBay or Gumtree from millions of listings, then on SB from hundreds.
Also knowing that rules by placing advertisment we could put key words in the tittle to speed up the search.

No, I have some positive experiences as well. The thread was more, has anyone had any trouble when working within the buy and sell section??

So I gave those examples,

I think your very defensive response is strange.

Works well for me. Although someone mentioned recently there was a Windsurfer One Design for sale and I have not seen a hint of it listed..?

I always find being over-courteous works wonders, but sometimes if an item has sold the seller choses not to respond. Pretty normal stuff.

I look at heaps of prices on here and I would say somewhere between 5-10% is priced a bit high but pretty good considering!..not sure about the Kite and surfboard side of things but WS and SUP is good. WA prices can be a bit higher sometimes but then again there are some stupidly good deals here!

I get a bit bent when I see shops and distributors announcing products and sales simply because when I enquired with admin after getting some red thumbs for offering to help out with services I was told I had to either purchase a banner or announce in the News feed. Only really notice it in the SUP section though and no red thumbs so make of that what you will.

All's fair in love & war as is said

You didn't say you were working on an oil rig somewhere and you couldn't come to see that thing for sale, but you were willing to pay the full price and more, etc etc,. and your courier would be around to pick it up, did you?
That might have put them off.

I have purchased from both Gumtree and SeaBreeze, as well as from eBay. All but one did I have a bad experience. It was on eBay. The seller had underestimated the postage, so he loses in postage. I received an item with slight damage not shown on the photos. Glass half-full, half-empty ?

With Gumtree and SeaBreeze, I always had contacted the sellers a few times to suss out what kind of persons I was dealing with. If the person is arrogant and not keen to give away information about what and where the items, I simply moved off. I guess it also depends on your own attitude to the sellers too. To date, I have not had any trouble with these sites.

You can use the filters on the left of the window to narrow your search. So, select to search "Sails" and on the left (in the filters) select "Severne" under "Brand"

Top service for me and I've sold and bought heaps on Seabreeze. Sometimes I dont get a response from an enquiry I just put that down to poor communicators or they have sold the item but not removed the add.

Sorry guys I should have been more specific. I am more wondering if there is a problem with the message system or if I'd just been snobbed off.

JFR, for the most part my Seabreeze Buy & Sell experiences have been positive.

I am communicating with a fellow selling a board today. So I don't think the system is broken. Is likely to be an issue with the seller.

Having just sold some gear on SB, I will share my experience...

I posted an ad and within 12 hours I had well over a dozen PMs/emails/texts/calls etc. I was actually quite overwhelming, especially when I was tied up at work all day. It's not always possible to reply immediately. Also, one of the first people I spoke to said they would buy my items, but couldn't pick them up for a couple of days, so I left the advert up just in case the deal fell through. In the interim, however, I did try and get back to everyone and let them know that if the sale fell through I would be in contact, but it took me a couple of days to get around to that.

Also, you may not have got a response because many people would've been away over the Christmas period. You can check when the advertiser was last online (i.e. logged into Seabreeze) by looking at the bottom of the advert. There are quite a few people who advertise on SB, but don't visit much.

I suggest best way to get in contact is to call the number and not send a text or PM. Many windsurfers are old skool and don't like texts... it's best to call.

Yep i has worked for me very well. Have returned to the sport and upgraded all my kit. The people i bought the gear from i found trustworthy plus they provided me with great advice. No push to sell their gear upon me. I have had two no-replies, but have put it down to they're busy, no interest or i dribbled in my message.

No loss. Keep trying

Spotted a sail on SB once that I was keen on, so messaged the owner with an offer that I thought was fair as it was way over priced. The guy said no so I moved on. He then messaged me a few weeks later to say that the sail was about to be sold at his higher price and was I still interested, I said nah. He then contacted me a week later to say he would accept my offer. I replied and accepted on the condition that he could wait till I sold my current sail. He accepted. So advertised my sail cheap so it would sell. Sold my sail in one week. Messaged the guy a number of times after the sale.( for some reason he had taken his phone number off his add ). He finally replied after about 2 weeks later and said he'd changed his mind and wanted to keep his sail. So had to buy a new one. Didn't bother contacting him again and never will. Be careful not everyone on SB has a good conscience.

I've done something similar. I'm paying off an expensive board over 6 weeks and had to sell some old gear to raise the funds. The seller was very understanding and agreed no problem. SB is a great place to buy and sell, but I think it comes down to the fact that the windsurfing community is so friendly and helpful. We're a big family and there's very few dickheads. It's why I no longer surf.

I'm no expert, but not exactly a stranger to online communication. I also have a busy life as most do these days, so I'm not bothered by waiting a couple of days or more for a reply. It was only after a few non replies in a row over past weeks that I wondered if there was a system problem, that's all, no big deal. I've always found most people reply to enquiries in a reasonable time frame, as I try to also. As I said earlier I've had mostly positive experience on Seabreeze BS. This is a great community and my sailing would be poorer without it.

Cheers for the input guys.
