Ah, that should have read "heart rate". Interesting and unusual to be taking surf photos side on to the wave, which certainly helps if you have a big boat as a vantage point. Nearly all the photos I have ever seen are taken from the beach, so I've never had a good idea of how steep the wave is where you are supposed to bottom turn. I always thought I was doing something wrong unless I was sailing on a really steep face, but from your photos I can see that it doesn't need to be as steep as I had thought.
Mikkey-even side on photos are deceptive. That wave was plenty steep, and the well positioned bottom turns took you right to the cresting lip.
Windy-nice work, that was an epic morning which will remain in my memory for a long time. Can't wait for the next Abroholos adventure.
Cheers, Jens
Yeah that was awesome!
We weren't sure how well we'd be accepted on the trip with but as it turned out, there couldn't have been a better bunch of blokes on board.
Well organised Ben and cheers to all the boys for a sensational trip.
Cheers
Dan
By the way, that second wave is a mint set-up...can't wait to hit it up again!
I've uploaded a few more photo's of the boat trip to the Abrolhos.
Not as speccy as Windy's (my camera's pretty basic), but they give you a good overview of where we sailed.
Enjoy!
