Hey everyone,
Just wondering if anybody can recommend a low cost courier to ship a windsurf board from Nth Qld to Melbourne.
The board I have been quoted for is a 170 Litre board (263 x 90). Toll gave me an estimate for about $226.00. Doesn't seem a massive cost considering some of the quotes I've looked at, but was wondering if it could still be done cheaper!
Appreciate any suggestions you have or experiences you can share.
Cheers,
Scott.
Make sure it is well padded.
Take photos all over of the board before and after packing before shipping.
Add insurence .
With a big fat texta write address and ph no , don't rely on the stick on con note.
Prey !
Total gamble shipping boards. I've sent a few off (using E-Go) some arrive safe and sound, others thrown around like rubbish, smashed nose, dings etc. There's no way I'd post a near near or super nice board, especially using E-go.
And go nuts with padding- bubble wrap, cardboard. Then imagine it will be thrown from truck to truck and a piano stacked on top of it...
I wish you luck.
Ive used ego, interparcel no dramas. As everyone says padding padding padding n all should be ok. Also used a qld local removalist called KOTAR from NQ. He does back loads. May be of help.
I have had three boards sent from interstate to Adelaide, one from Hervey Bay, one from Sydney and one from Hobart. . Have also sent one from Adelaide to Sydney. All via E Go. All arrived safe and sound. The trick is to Insure and make sure the special instructions sticker states it is an Insured item. ( And of course what Imax said ).They seem to handle and take care of the item if it is Insured.
Someone on here mentioned these guys a while ago and I seem to remember a few green thumbs with it

Ego..bubblewrap extra padding and card board on pointy bits.Maybe take straps off and bubble wrap separately..If you have an old stuffed boardbag then place bubblewrapped etc board in that then in cardboard carton. If you can get a carton from a sailboard shop that's shipped boards that is ideal.
Insure it.Write address in texta on the carton ( and return address). This way if the con note goes missing it can still get there.
Print out the ' handle like eggs ' stickers Ego supplied with their email and stick all over..Highlight them with a fluoro pen..![]()
Should arrive ok..![]()
just for everyone,s info, when you insure your freight through the freight companies ,they will not pay out on second hand items only new,get a confirmation from your choice of freighters as to what they will pay out. i worked for freighters for 12 years and found this out on my own stuff.
Thanks everyone - invaluable info. Really appreciate all your inputs!!!
I'm looking at a possible purchase of a used board and will need to organise it's freight. But packaging would of course be down to the current owner ![]()
Thanks again all ![]()

Sorry the stupid phone has posted it upside down..

I like how the JP boxes have a sticker that says "High Claim Item" and no forklift
If they see that and its insured they will go easy I suspect.
Never had a problem with e-go and smart send. However as per last thread if it does go missing e-go won't talk to you......
