Hi
I'm new in this forum. I'm looking at changing all my sails this year and have found this brand on the internet that I havent seen before. www.point-7.com
Apparently its quite new, but also succesfull in Europe. I also read that Jose Bahadur used one of their sails, when he won the first leg of the ISA in 2007.
I would like to know if anyone has any experience with these sails or if anyone have heard anything about them? The design is fantastic..
wow! if they sail as good as they look (and as durable as the average sail) they are definitely on a winner
even without the silhouette of the chick, they are wicked looking sails imho
Those sails look awesome!
U can buy them off the site ,
im not sure about how much postage will cost , but a 5.7 wave sail is $580 !!!
even if the postage was $100 theyd still be cheap
i want one
pete - i guess none of our replies answer your original question of is black okay? I guess black = hot in sun, and i figure that might lead to shortened life maybe??![]()
Well I read on their site that the black film blocks the UVrays so the sails should be protected and last longer than a normal transparent monofilm sail.
But I'm sure that a black material gets warmer, but then again I doubt that it will melt..?
It's pretty cool how they recommend a sail size for rider weight/wind speed. I've never seen that info published (guessed?) by a windsurfing company before.
the point 7 sails have had some good results with their speed and slalom sails is what i have heard.
i know a few guys in qld were looking at trying to get their hands on some and i was looking at trying to get some about 2 years back as well.
my problem is they were just way too expensive.
they explain it on their website Harrow. .7 of a point is what you receive if you finish first in a sailing race.
Being at work today (GODDAMNIT!!!) I've had plenty of time to peruse their site.
The black is actually UV protected monofilm, and 0.7 is a racing score for 1st place.
They reckon with the UV protection you can even place the sail on grass and you won't get that moisture on the grass side like you do with clear monofilm.
Looks like well thought out, quality construction.http://www.point-7.com/main/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=79&Itemid=93
The Sado's look pretty kewl with the silhouette. But, and maybe it's just me, from some angles in the photographs it looks like she's "bending and spreading", which is a bit much???:
You can buy direct. I priced a 5.8 Sado at $AU640 delivered, customs would add 10% to that. I don't recall any other manufactures offering being able to buy direct (brave new world).
Point-7 is the work of Andrea Cucchi (ITA-1), a top pro from Italy who's been around on the racing scene since I was learning to walk.
Had a sail on one of the '07 AC-1's in Switzerland last season. They were really nice. Very deep in the bottom section in a similar outline to the NP race sails. We nicknamed them the stealth on account of their black colour.
I had spoken to Andrea and he told me they tested a lot of masts in the hot sun in Sardinia in the race sails and when they found one that didnt break, the badged it with Point-7.
I think their previous motto "once you go black, you never go back" was a stab at North Sails, which are quite popular in Italy... haha.
Haven't seen the wavesails in person but if they're as nice as the race sails I would be buying one. They have a few dealers in various places in Europe but are mainly working through internet sails - which is great, because there is no overheads on the price.
Speaking of small windsurfing manufacturers making sails that no one in Australia cares about...

Yes sails is now Point7 . Peter Muzlinger ( I hope I spelt that correctly) moved Yes sails from Lake Garda to Sardinia . When he got involved with Andrea Cucci it became Point 7 . Nice graphics , they have a very talented young designer helping them out .
Hey Red 5 , Chris Lockwood probably cares about KA sails seeing as he went 50 knots on one 2 weeks ago .
Apparently, Chris had his GPS strapped to a 4 wheel motorbike, and he rode it up and down next to the speed run, and eveyone at Sandy Pt that day is in on it.
anyone heard of this sail i had circa early 90's by pierre couderc i already forgot what the sails name was
made in hongkong, no website and you only saw his loft address and phone number and was always in the windsurf mags looking for distributors..well he's not around anymore i wonder but during that time i thought it was a good enough sail![]()
I did this one as a proposal for the 08 kult but couldn,t source the Black Xply at the time . I reckon it would lokk hot if the white was substituted for a bright colour , maybe orange ? I might have to sketch it up . www.seabreeze.com.au/gallery/gallery.asp?imageid=10011
Sounds a bit suss to me. The guy sounds like he is commercially involved with the company yet initial post tries to sound like an average punter?
I think that I saw the exact same post about Point-7 sails on boards.co.uk forums a few months ago?
