Hey Peto how goes the new job ?
Talking about wave sailing have you had a chance to go through any of the footage from Mauritius yet ?
Would be super keen to get a look and a copy of the One Eyes and Manawa footage !

Im confused now, at all the comps Ive been to, in the finals it has been top three waves and top three jumps ( if windy permits) that count, not a cumulative score. Have you guys ever actually sat down and done any judging?

Mr Plod I think what Peto is commenting on is the consistency which took a bit of a dive in recent years.

A classic example was someone competing on a slalom board a year or 2 ago and actually getting points just for going down the face of a wave, and being scored close behind someone bottom turning properly. Thats just stupid.

Anyway, I'm sure it'll bounce back again.

And for the record, Peto has done a sh1tload of judging for many years and knows exactly what to look for. Same with MA.

And Donk is also right. He drinks far too much.

I take it there was no sailing done on the weekend at Birubi? That's a pity.

Those guys are spot on the reason the consistency has moved down is because the likes of Peto,Luke,Ma, doogs, Qwerty etc, etc, rarely attend these comps anymore. The asocaition is very strong with lots of new blood, what it needs now is for some of the old guys to return and start pushing everyone a bit further. Theres still lots of very good riders but not as many as 5 yrs ago.

However in saying that the amateur fleet last year was pretty impressive, these guys are all really pushing themselves to improve and definately are on their way to the top. I think that the level of wave sailing has definatley moved up a notch in this fleet and it wont be long until you guys whinging about the old days will be left well behind.

Hope to see you all at Woolgoolga!!

Agreed Krusty - and I think having Worley as Head Judge should really help (nothing against Wazza) as he's probably one of the best "surfers" in the comps (as in he actually surfs the wave as opposed to flying down it at 25 knots to hit the lip).

We just need to get consistency in the judging - moves sometime got missed.
