Hi everyone, im new here ;) the last 10 years i used to only windsurf during holidays (i live in germany so the local options are limited) but still i decided to set up my local gear. For now i have:

- a pretty old jp super-x 106 + NP expression 5.7 (from good old times;))
Recently i bought:
- bolt 125 + mark2 7.7 + mfc h1 racing carbon 42cm - this will likely be my main set (strong winds on lakes near Berlin are not that often:( )

What i need to figure out now is i need a sail in between to cover 99% winds that happen around here (something ~6.6m?) my worry though is that in will not really work well on either of those Boards. Do you think my worries are justified? And if i would buy a freeridish light 6.6 sail would getting new fins for the boards be neccesery?
(im in the ~80kg range in case thats important)
Thanks for your tips

Hi, I also own a bolt 125 (first generation) I wouldn't go too small on this board to keep the balance and the possibility to lift the nose by pushing on the rear foot. For me a good freeslam no cam in 6.7/6.8 with a rather long boom and large trim possibility would be the best solution. I have a 7.3 loft oxygen that fits perfect but my big sail is an 8.2 (I'm closer to 90kg than 80). In your case, I guess the oxygen 6.8 would be ok but other brands make good freeslam to.

Welcome to the forum!

You may not need another sail. Although the size increase from 5.7 to 7.7 is 35% which is quite large, you can still probably sail with just those two and the two boards.

I'm the same weight as you and I would use the 7.7 from 14 knots up to 20 knots (full power!!) and the 5.7 with the JP from 18 knots to 24knots. I used a Bolt 125 with a 7.5m for a couple of weeks while on holiday and those sizes match very well.

As you're sailing on a lake, it should be relatively flat which means it shouldn't be as difficult to control the power. If overpowered, increase outhaul and then downhaul for more control if needed.

Hope this helps!

What is your concern that an additional, sail won't work on these boards?
if you went to small or too large then yes , you would have gone past the useful range of the board maybe both. Yes your weight matters.
106- 7.0-5.5 ( for me the 7.7m is too large for this size board)
125- 8.0-6.0. I didn't look these range of sails up, the manufacture are always broad. Your existing 5.7 m sounds olde, and
this size overlaps on both boards. Looking at half way between these
is a 6.7, reasonable thinking, on size, if you feel the 5.7m is not going to,hold you back, then a 6.5m.
plenty of great sailors from Germany.
