I know Sanctuary Point is recognised as one of the best spots to sail. Are there any other recognised spots? Perhaps in Jervis Bay?

Jervis bay from vincentia beach in a NE, mostly kites and very few windsurfers last few times I've been there. feels like you've died and gone to heaven, such a beautiful spot.
sanctuary point is less beautiful but there is a takeaway shop close by for coffees etc

Dezza I totally forgot about callala bay when you were looking for a place to sail in a southerly, this place is perfect for tomorrow , you have some flat water behind the reef and some really nice swell out wider , it's also totally safe if have gear problems you end up on the northern end of callala bay
im working so I wont be able to make it , it's defernately worth a look
Keith, great idea, will swing by there tomorrow if the wind looks good. Otherwise sanctuary point might be the go. So much choice 
insight, I've always launched from iffracombe ave, I think it's called, take first left after crossing moona creek heading south. I've seen others launch a little further just north of moona creek by camping ground. South side is usually good parking, beautiful sandy beach, tape up your mast, it's that fine white sand that is like cement with water added. Take water and supplies, nothing near by.
you will need to drive to the top of the headland and get out of your car and have a look towards Vincentia , the wind is lifting to get up over the headland , it's a very strange place to predict the wind
some guys rig at the top and carry there gear down the steps or you can rig at the boat ramp and maybe swim your gear out on the high tide until you get some wind , from there it will take 2 tacks to get up to the reef , stay well up wind of the moored boats when your heading out
its open to the south and you should get some nice steady wind , at sanctuary point its a bit of a lottery
Let me know Dezza if your going to hit Callala and I'll come down. It is awesome but it's just one of those places that feels better sailing with friends. Awesome bump and jump and good consistent wind, it's unlikely the wave will be working but it's still a great place to sail with super long runs....you almost feel lost at sea in the middle.

What about Callala Beach launching from the Myola end? Could that be good in a Southerly?
That would pretty much send you in to the thick of it, It's really onshore into Callala Beach and always looks super choppy. It's a long way down wind to the wave break so you'd be limited to bump and jump. The beauty of Callala bay is you can rig and launch with the protection of the headland, From there work you way upwind to the wave zone or just sail straight out and back from the boat ramp at the bay. On a good swell there is some good onshore wave riding down wind but beware there is a shallow reef...we are talking quad fin shallow in some spots if you get it wrong but it can be good. But usually ends in a long walk home as you chase the waves way down wind. Straight out from the boat ramp is awesome for out and out blasting. If it's 15 knots at SP the it'll be 25 knots at Callala Bay....Fun spot and not utilized enough.
Nice one jase, I wouldn't mind trying that spot, especially if there's some chance of stronger breeze... I was a bit nervous after reading Keith's post about swimming out...will check the situation in morning and be in touch, fingers crossed for there or SP
Dezza, it's not that bad. Normally you can walk your kit out into the wind line and lanch. The worse I've seen it is up to my neck but that was on a big swell and crazy high tide but it was still easier to get out then Gerroa on a average day. There's probably not too many that would sail the break as it is a reef break that requires you to go deep for the launch and it does end on dry reef if you go too deep. The bump and jump situation is fine, nice and safe.

Shame I didn't have any mobile data reception; I'd have joined you. I sailed the SE off off Chinaman's Beach (is that racist?). Was a good breeze and I stayed out only a short while... because...
SHARKS! Bloody hell there are a lot of sharks there!
I skipped the big NE'r that came through during the week completely because the day before we lost count of how many noahs came past the beach. I think five in one hour alone. And I fully intended to have the kids snorkelling out there on the reef. Most were small at about 1m but then one with a body about the size of a refrigerator cruised past about twenty metres off the beach. Nope.
Grew some balls and went out on the boxing day SE'r, but it's scary all the way out there all by yourself. 
Hyams Beach and the others alongside it all work on both a NE and SE; the beaches face E. There are some wind shadows near the little headlands because of ...the headlands. I think a downwinder would be awesome to/from Hyams Beach to/from Vincentia. Maybe next year.

Wifey video'd me nailing some cranking gybes with the white sands and aqua water and so on, finally, first video of myself in seven years. Upon viewing later with some excitement I realised that all she actually filmed was vertical video of me taking off on a very shaky first run, and my final run back to the beach. [sigh].
Also the entire family expressed surprise when I pulled a second board out of its bag, "You have two boards?", even though I've had them both for years and they live in the garage and were on the roof of the car and in the living room for five days. WTF?

it did look a bit black and dark in the water yesterday, makes the water starts super quick

Must be just a sharky time of year EvilPanda. Same up here (Mid North Coast) seen a few solid ones in the last few days. Not really worried- so long as I don't fall off
And your vent- I'm hearing you there also, but whilst surfing. I had my missus film me on a sweet day with punchy 4 ft barrels. Never been filmed surfing in 25 years, and only a handful of pics- so was super stoked when she said she got some great footage of me in some barrels. I came, viewed the footage, and it wasn't even me...
Keen to see any pics or footage if any was taken that day. Looks like a fun places to sail.

Oops...Did I forget to mention that there had been several sighting that week through the area, Actually there has been a huge amount of activity along the south coast. We got buzzed by the shark plane several times that day. They tell me your more likely to be hit by a bus...Didn't see any buses that day so I guess we're all good. 
Fun sail anyway....But I do like it better when I have company as it always feels a bit sharky but that's Jervis Bay in general. That's why I love Gerroa.....There's no sharks there
There's been a reported big white of around 3.5 - 4m off warilla over the last couple of weeks. Sighted by over 10 different people. Luckily it hasn't been seen for a week now so hopefully it's moved along.
Hey, just wanted to add my 2cents worth to this thread, I'm thinking of heading to Callala Beach today for a family gathering but throw the board in the car as NEr is coming thru this pm. What's your view of Callala Beach in NEr?
