Hi,
I am travelling to Bali in a few weeks and staying in Sanur. It's my first trip there and I will be looking to hire some freeride equipment.
Any info on places to hire and areas for flat water/bump & jump would be much appreciated.
Cheers, Terence

I sailed the lagoon on Mistral Pan Am raceboard and 7.5m sail I rented off the beach in the late 90s. It was fun sailing. I have not been there since and have no idea whats available now.
We were there a few years ago and all the beach gear looked like ancient rubbish.
There was a smallish wave on the reef that looked sailable, but I wasn't tempted.

Thats what I saw about 8 years ago. I doubt the gear would be there now.
Thanks John, that means the area is sailed which is my first step and it looks okay from google maps. Wow a pan-am, you're talking my vintage early 80s ??
Crap gear & still there 8 years ago.shame if it's still the case. I searched online again & noticed a place that supplies kites, may be able to give some direction. Thankfully the reason for the trip isn't to sail. Thanks anyway guys
Anyway enjoy Bali, it's a special place with fantastic people. Just beware of free gifts if you go to listen to a proposition.
Was there recently and the windsurf hire has closed down, along with a row of warungs that are being replaced with a large hotel. Only know this as I usually take half a doz fins that I have spare to donate. Honestly, the best bet maybe to forget windsurfing as the water has become really crowded. Jump on a fast boat (sanur) and head across to lembongan, 40m and you'll enjoy a quieter more laid back experience. (like bali 40 years ago)
Thanks Pepe for the current info. Sounds like there hasn't been windsurfing demand for some time, no bums on seats for the hirers. Nonetheless I will keep an eye out for any sailors around, nothing better than chatting with windsurfing "kin". My daughter is organising the trip so I will tell her to look up options in Lembongan, she's the boss! Looking forward to the experience
