Any one taking advantage of the US/AU dollar situation? RE: Gear.....?

Be interested to see if anyone knows of a good way to take advantage of it..... I see electronics etc haven't come down at all.... perhaps a delay??

Discuss.

Sucked in

I'm thinking of heading over there with some money and buying real estate. I'll wait till the US dollar collapses.

I bought a snowboard and bindings for $400 bux - would have cost twice that here... no windsurfing gear though, i imagine shipping would be quite expensive.

Yep,

I just received a new 2010 sail from the states.Took 6 days to land at my door via Fed ex. Had the pick of colours and sizes and saved around $180 to $200 oz per sail, this was including the $130 us for postage. Was too easy. Paid by visa which cost around $25 dollars. With the dollar at parity you would be mad getting them in here oz.

The HD is US $279 at a local shop near us in new york for the helmet set up

Can't find a windsurf shop within 20 miles to grab some sails - with the Aussie dollar so high a 5 week trip in the US has cost around 2-3k less than budgeted - very happy with that.

Still expensive - $99.50 for a seat at the Ice hockey and $9:50 for a beer. Just as well we're near parity a family night at the New York Rangers was the cost of a couple of sails at US prices - don't want to think about it

Lets go rangers - lets go!!!!!!!

you obviously haven't been to Sydney lately. most bars now charge $6.5 to $9.5 for a beer and events such as the big day out go for close to $200 for a single day... never mind the $100 you'll spend to have a few drinks and some food.

The reason why the US seems cheap at the moment (parity or not) is because we are being ripped off left right and centre here in Australia.

BTW, windsurf boards actually seem to be cheaper this season. So it's good to see at least one industry handing on the better dollar rates.

Understand - $100 a ticket to the Rangers game - you can buy 30 cans of Bud beer here for $17.99 $9:50 was a shock -

I think volume and wages are the two major things that cause things to be more expensive in Aus - minimum wage here is something like $5-$9 and hour and everyone is relying on tips to break even - I am sure looking forward to coming home to our expensive beer and good beaches.
