Not sure why I expected anything different, but the narration of the Olympic sailing on NBC is just embarrassing. Not only is the commentator not a windsurfer, I don't think he's ever even talked to someone who windsurfs. Decent drone coverage though. It would have been so easy to hire someone with an interest in the sport, since they're all watching remotely anyhow, but noooo...instead they've got this Gabe Kaplan-sounding fool.
I wonder whether I can pick up the German, or Dutch or Italian or Israeli feed somewhere.
In Oz we are getting all the sailing through 7 plus, and the coverage as well as the narration is fantastic compared to previous years meagre coverage.
The graphics are a great reminder of the poor tacking angles of the RSX. Bring back the Raceboard!
American network coverage of the Olympics has been terrible for decades. All they cover are the fashionable sports with only the Americans as competitors, and then only the top half dozen of everybody else. Skateboarding? Come on!! Also, the ratio of content to commercials is awful.
So, in my coverage area, if we want to see every competitor from top to bottom in a particular sport, we have to try to find it on a Spanish-speaking channel or bootleg it off a satellite feed.
I'm glad you Oz folks can get good coverage of the windsurfing events. I wonder whether we could bootleg 7 Plus in the USA.
7 plus is free if you subscribe: 7plus.com.au/live-tv?channel-id=Seven
Might need VPN outside oz
