Hey Folks,
My outhaul pulleys on my boom seems to have jammed up from sand and such. Can't really spin the pulleys with my fingers as they are a bit hard, if not impossible, to reach. Would you guys recommend using some sort of dry lube like McLube to unjam it? How about WD40?
Thanks!
Kevin
Empty a Can of Coke into a plastic bag, put your boom end in the bag !
coke will fix the jam
then use dry lube.
clean your gear !

or vinegar will work
NOT that I have ever done it cos I am too lazy but I reckon one a year mix up 4l cheap vinegar with some water, in a bucket and stick in all your sail bags (zip ends), boom ends, extension pulleys etc and soak for a few hrs then rinse.
Maybe this year ![]()
Hmmm will definitely try the vinegar trick as I don't have any coke laying around. I rinse the boom every session
Will definitely try the dry lube. Also I just checked the entire tail piece including the rope in the water/vinegar mix; is that ok for the rope? no damage to it?
Thanks!

Yes, it is maybe almost half as strong as stomach acid![]()
I had a similar issue with the pulleys on my mast extention. I hadn't been used in a long while. so i secured it in the vice (not too tight to eliminate potential damage) soaked the pulley wheels with CRC or you could use WD40 or any other type of skunkpiss, thread some downhaul/outhaul rope through and work it until it becomes free. Keep doing this and continue to soak with the product of your choice to wash out any corrosive material.
when you're finished go to the fridge and select the beverage of your choice or have one on hand as your fixing the problem![]()
