Hello:
I live in Spain, in Majorca, and I registered in this forum seeking advice.
I do windsurf in Majorca Bay. Average conditions are 10-14 knots, a bit of choppy.
I weight 84 kg, and I can use footstraps and planning, though I`m learning to gybe.
Currently I have a 2006 Naish Vector 114 Lts (66 cm width) and it seems to me the board became small in terms of volume. I bought it 15 years ago when I used to weight 5 kg less.
I have the opportunity to buy an almost new 2022 JP Super Ride LXT 124 Lts, in perfect conditions, which means 10 Lts more than the Naish, 6 cm more of width and 18 cm less length.
I use sails from 6.0 to 8.0.
I cannot test the board before purchasing it, so I have to be sure it will fit my demands.
Will be this JP still small to me? I?m afraid to buy a still small board, but maybe if I go for a 146 Lts, it will be too big when I progress.
I appreciate any advice, and anyhow, greetings from Spain.
Javier
go for it, great board.
You'll find the Naish just got to its limit and the extra 5kg was a tipping point. Probably during the winter too you didn't get out much so it became a little more tippy than you remember.
It's wider so it will take larger sails and be slightly more forgiving. Keep the Naish as a higher wind board.
Thanks a lot both for the advice, much more confident on buying. And also keeping the Naish is also a very good point, for the money I can get, better using it on certain windy days.
OK, just to double check, the heading states its 124 litres, then you wrote that its 146.
If It's the 124 go for it for sure, if it's the 146 I would say its too big.
Go for something around 125 litres its just a little more then the Naish but still good for higher winds and will have good speed.
The larger board will be too big and you'll outgrow it quickly.
Also it will feel lots more stable and hold a bigger sail. The Naish is great but a little old school, Narrow too.
Thanks for clarification. I mentioned the 146 lts version because I have been offered both the 124 and 146, so I was afraid to choose the 146 because getting too big as I progress.
After your advice, I will definitely go for the 124 lts.
Thanks again
