Well, they don't call it that but the latest catalogue has a few things that could be interesting to a few windsurfers. It is their annual snow equipment sale, (and there is plenty to recommend for that too) but it occurred to me that a few things besides the warm clothes could interest us.
- Neoprene face mask: $9.99 for this chilly winter days sailing.
- Ski Helmets: $29.99: I can't see any reason they would not make a good sailing helmet as well.
- Ski Goggles: $14.99: Dark lenses for those glarey days in summer and Orange lenses to keep the sand out of your eyes on mental overcast Sandy Point speed days.
- Ski Goggle action camera: $149 They are usually water 'resistant' but probably would not survive a 40 knot crash or going through the rinse cycle in the waves. But then you can also use them for bike riding, skateboarding, in fact all sorts of things and you don't have a stalk coming out of your helmet. (Actually, they are a bit overpriced as I just this week got another pair of Liquid Image camera goggles on special for $80 including postage from the USA - cheap enough to risk for a few speed runs!
)
- Ski Watch: $89.99. Comes with GPS and heart rate monitor that has Cycling, Running and Skiing modes. It may even tell you you speed on the water!
If you are queued up at ALDI next Wednesday morning before opening you may see me at the head of the line! ![]()
Oh, and the $55 dollar 2/3 steamers in their annual surfing sale are more than quite passable as a summer steamer as well. That one will be in a few months. ![]()
Disclaimer: I, or my family have no commercial interests in ALDI, but I like them for quality bargain hunting.![]()
If ALDI get around to building a store here in SA at SEAFORD they will sell a lot of those $55 wetsuits.

A store is being built now at Hallett Cove shopping centre. Opening early2016.
When I lived in QLD I tried so hard to like ALDI but just couldnt. They will soon be in WA, hope I can find good stuff like everyone else. They seem so small.
Aldi have some great stuff
The ski helmets might have foam in them that could absorb water and clap out over time, the face mask sounds like a winner, if the goggles have dual layers with air vents between the lenses water might get trapped Between the lenses, if they are a single moulded dual lens then would be great, ie carrera style
Had some great aldi products and some lemons, most if the tools clap out if used regularly ! My 3 cents worth

Years ago a mad German mate of mine sailed with snow ski mask/goggles whatever they're called and swore by them, we used to tease him but he didn't care ![]()
