Hi all, I have a AHD Free Diamond with a what looks like a split or crack along a front rail. It's minor as I only noticed it when some moisture came out in the sun. The rest of the board is in pretty good nic so I want to repair it but don't know much about the construction. I'm ok with FB or epoxy but not knowing much about what AHD calls " Protec Sandwich Technology Construction " make me cautious. Whatever the internals are, I believe it has a thin plastic outer skin. Hoping someone out there can advise.

I am sure they don't have a skin over top, like say BiC of the same era did.
Just moulded epoxy sandwich. What makes it look like a plastic skin over top?

A small crack is easy fixed just grind out a bit along it's length about 2-3mm deep and 10-15mm wide and glass it. As long as it is not plastic skinned

Thanks, not sure where I read the board had a thin skin over it but the manufacturer has replied and also confirmed straight epoxy will do the job.

Confidence level now improved - will wait for any dry out, repair, then hit the water again....cheers.

Unfortunately AHD's are difficult to repair well, partly due to their Pre-Preg manufacture process, the "outer skin" as you describe it is the outer vacuum casing. Once moisture is between the outer skin and the foam core - nothing will make the two stick together, so make sure all moisture has been dried out then google manufacturers of pre-preg and buy the epoxy resin from them.
