Hi, ive been given a Bic Metal Rock. Looking for suitable larger(30cm+) slalom style fin to suit US box. Old or new i dont mind. Keen to try this old board as it looks like it will suit my sailing needs.
Cant help you with the fins mate but I sailed that board a few times and loved it, a really nice board to sail.
So the Metal Rock graphics. White board Arrow style graphics in blueish colour. Metal Rock written long length of board. BUT my Metal rock has Electric Rock graphics like a printed circuit board, with Metal Rock written across board forward of mast track. Any ideas or clues ? Seems like a crossbreed of sorts. Board measures up as Metal Rock i think.![]()

andrew check and see if it has a alloy or plastic fin box if its plastic it can breakout pretty easily and take your fin to the bottom.
Ive scored the alloy version. Small amount of corrosion at leading edge of finbox, but looks ok. Board is well weathered but watertight.
good when u find a fin you might pack it up with ice cream lid to stop it moving side to side you can eat the left overs to stop the ice cream going of this will also save buying a weigh suit
Sweet! Dessert while im sailin. Ive got a wet suit n weight suit all rolled into one. Weighs about 10-15kg. Think ya get one when 'OVER 40'.
So where do i find a fin thats going to suit 6-8m sails?

most fin were wide and not deep so you could modify any new fin and pickup some performance
So buy a new style fin, powerbox whatever. Cut base down to suit US n put pin in? What shape fin? Freeride or pointer for metal rock? 34cm too big? I dont mind the odd custom project.![]()
Or just grab one of these

Forget the plastic. Select progression is 32cm. Or 33cm for the more wave looking fin. Which one????
Progression or fx free carve, also shock bump in 33cm. This is well suited for 7sqm. I have the same (shock bump) on my bee 1991 and it is very fast and sweet to ride and jibe.
regarding the board graphic, the white with the arrow is an earlier model, the printed circuit board one is the last year model, with a more stiff fiber layout.
i was advised not to take the progression fin.
have fun!

Why not Select Progression? Seems to be one of a few readily available.![]()
