I am thinking about buying a 7m Sail. I weigh 100kg. My current board is 100litres Bump & Jump F2 Airmax. Currently I have a 6m sail. I do not get into the water until I get a solid 17 knot breeze, as i hate not planing.
What sort of wind range will i get out of a 7m sail?
Should I be thinking about a board with more litres and a deeper slalom fin too.
Should I consider a 7.5m?

Can't really answer most of those questions (still fairly new and not in same weight range)
But i'm 70kg and thinking of a 7.5m for non-planning conditions on my 6.5, hoping to make them planning ones
If i'm thinking of a sail that size, I reckon a 100kg sailor should too!
Can't always wait for perfect wind, have to go grab it I reckon
And yeah, a ~120-140L board would let you get on the water a few knots earlier at least I reckon (an larger fin)
Depends on what size mast (i'm assuming your 6m has a 460), with a long extension you may get a 7.5 on it (depends if your wanting a whole new rig or just a sail)
jumping from 6 - 7 , probably isn't a big enough gap,
i'd be going from a 6 to a 7.5 - 9. to get that noticeable difference, maybe with a bigger fin...so u dont have to buy another board.
in the smaller sizes of sail your gaps could be somewhere between 0.5 and 1m
also of course it all boils down to the type of sail u get aswell.. e.g my 5.7 naish force has more bottom end than my old gastra 6.4 matrix etc etc
at 100 kg you need a bigger board and sail (7.5-8.5m) to get going in light winds.
a 7.5 is getting too big for a 100lt board.
my 6.4kult (massive power) and 95lt board with 30cm mfc freewave gets me planing in 13 or 14 knots. but i dredge in the lulls. so to plane everywhere i need 15 knots. going bigger in sail size doesn't achieve much as the sail just keeps getting heavier.
putting a bigger board under the kult is really what really should happen. more volume.... but i'd prefer going big at that point. as i a 120+litre board and 8.5 sail.
a 120lt+ litre board and an 8.5m will have you fully planing at 12 knots. 7.5m will also get you going on a bigger board in 12+ knots but the lulls will be the killer.
Agree with Gestalt except the comment about a 7.5 on a 100lt board is too big
.
But differnatly if ya want to plane in 12knots you will need 120lt+ board and 8.5m+ sail.
