I found an amazing deal on a 2022 Neilpryde V8 6.2 that rigs on a 400/430 RDM or SDM. I was hoping to save the cost of a new mast by rigging the V8 on my Ezzy Hookipa 91% RDM mast. Will this work OK? According to Unifiber's chart, both brands seemed to be constant curves of the same type. Does anyone have a few words or wisdom on a similar experience?
Thanks, Greg
I have tried it the other way 430 NP on a 6,0 cheetah ,it was too soft in overpowered conditions ,but then I put the 430 NP on my 6,0 lion and it was ok ,quite nice and flicky
The 2 cams made the diff ..I think it will work ok ,but you may have to apply more downhaul so its a bit softer up top
to counter the soft top ,but they are not the same mast ,it will be ok-ish, your lucky it has cams .if its a sail you won't use much
go for it ,
Just try it, that's the only way to fine out. I got the V8 6.2 (21). I rig mine on a older tushy mast rdm 400,works for me. The best mast is the pryde 430\400.rdm or std size.l also noticed the newer pryde stm mast are slightly narrower.l think I got a pic of my sail rigged on my profile fotos.hope this helps

They definitely are narrower. The V8 camms won't rotate properly on the older, ( X6, X9 ) , masts. Pitty , because they are really good masts.
NP sails all set best on NP masts. The correct mast makes "rigging to the numbers" a breeze. Camber rotation, creases and shifting of the centre of effort are all issues people have using other masts. Even older NP masts don't work as well with newer sails. Having said all of that, try it out, it may work perfectly.
I tried the Ezzy mast on the V8! Not the best. For some reason I had to set the outhaul a lot further out than the max. I ended up getting a SPX95 NP mast. Looks better for sure and rigs nice. No shortcut this time!

You will love it now . Rig it to the dots on the sail , and not too much outhaul .
