Just went through an old photo album from mum . A pic of me with my first windsurf lesson . 1985 . It was a school sport .![]()
Sorry if it's been posted before..
The year I moved to San Francisco!!!!!! An eager 26 years old trying to adjust to the constant 20 knots of the Bay coming from the breezes of Lago Maggiore
First scientific meeting I went to was three months later, in Ohau, I took the local bus and rented a board at Waimanolo beach. I was in Heaven!!!!!!!
Brings back good memories ..camped that April /86 at Baldwin park there. There were so many windsurfers then .
Cool video, still great sailing and love the tie on booms
1986 owned my first slalom board, and life a lot simpler
89 the first year I went to Maui ![]()
Dave Sheen from WA (3.49 & 4.05, WA1) was the king of cheese rolls. If I remember correctly, he placed top 5 that year at the Marui O'Neil Invitational PWA / WBA event at Hookipa, almost beating Robby Naish. Photos of him were all over the magazines, including photo sequences in the American Windrider mag.
I must have watched that video more than 100 times as a teenager in the '80s.
Thanks for posting. This video shows some of the guys at the height of their powers including Josh Adams (KA-8) ripping in WA:
I think the original film (cut here) had video of Dave Sheen too. www.screenaustralia.gov.au/the-screen-guide/t/summers-a-breeze-1988/1871/
