I heavily and irreparabley damaged my favorite freeride foil, my AFS F800 (aka F1080). It had good combination of good lift, and a thin dection for low drag. It was one of the original mid aspect wings 80cm wide vs 1080 cm2
Slingshot was lowing out Phantasm inventory last fall and I picked up whay I thought was a good analog, the G800. After a ride, I'm not impressed, both too mu h lift and too much drag It has a floaty big wing feeli g but never really accelerated
I don't need a significantly smaller wing as I have a Starboard IQ gen. quiver for looking for something playful for carving turns, etc
I see there's a G700 and a PTM 899 that might fit the bill and aren't terribly expensive Any thoughts or advice?

I had the same experience with the G800. It functions fine, but I couldn't make it go any faster than the PFI 730. I was expecting more given the reduced surface area. I rolled the dice on the Sab 769 Medusa. It fits the SS fuse perfectly with the conical M8 to M6 washers. It's way less draggy and turns better than the G800. What is really surprising is the stall speed can still be very low with the right tail (SS 360 V tail). There may be an effective SS equivalent in the PTM line of wings IDK.
I've not tried the G800 but love my PTM899. I use with the PS340 stab. It's my go to foil in 10 to 20 kts. My peak top speed is 20kts on this combo, though I chase and ride bumps rather than speed.

In my bargain bin shopping, I also picked up a PTM 930 - it looks really close to this. Should I just give the 930 a go instead? The dimensions of the two are very close - is one just an update of the other?
