who has or has used the starboard free ride 1100 front wing
how low is the foiling speed ie flying at 5kts 11 kts ?
my gt foil with the 800 front wing doesn't foil till about 12-14 kts the other locals are foiling at way lower speed
but they do have different brand foils.. I know hens teeth are easier to find but you never know whats on the www
MMM13b. If you are getting 12-14kts with the GT foil then you will definitely improve your low end by adding the 1100freeride front wing or the 1000 race front wing. To get even more low end add the following fuselages 95plus, 105 plus, 115 and 115 plus. Your sail size, board type and riding style may determine what foil you go with and how low you can foil. Your body weight, riding skills and water conditions will also determine how low you can foil.

I have the 1100. Much like you, I started with the GT (Carbon), and worked to find the perfect combo to get flying in lighter wind. First off, I bought the 115 fuse. Then the 1100 wing. Much like you, it took more wind to get the GT to fly. Now I'm lifting in 9 knots and (once flying) can stay on flight through 5-6 knots of wind. I use the 255 stab, however. The 330 is too much. The top end is close to 20 knots. My combo has a wider wind range and is much more stable than the GT.

The 800 wing was very difficult to get going on the standard fuselage.
Using the 95+ makes it feel like the 900, so it's easier to lift off in a lighter wind
The 1100 has a different flying character than the 800/900/1000 series of wings.
Much more forgiving, and playful...use with either 330 or 255 tw.

Hi there - I use the 1100/330 with the 95+ fuse. Great combo on my SB 150L freeride. I have more than 50 sessions on this setup. I should try something else but it's just so comfortable. I have used sails from 5m2 to 8m2. Average cruising is 17-18 knots. Toping around 21-22 knots. pretty good upwind and so much fun on a reach. I use a 95cm carbon mast.

The larger the stab, the more pitch resistance you'll have. Since the original stabs have a 2 degree pitch, higher winds and high speeds will cause you to put a ton of front foot pressure to keep a level flight. I think the 95+ with the 330 might work, especially since you can adjust the stab angle. Worst case, you just get a smaller stab (255).
With the 1100 being more forgiving and having a better low end than the 800, is it still easier to use than the 800 as the wind increases?

I would expect that to be true ... although I have been lazy and using the 1100 even in high winds.

I find that the 1100 works better in general than the 800. I think I can get maybe an extra knot with the 800, but the low end range makes a huge difference. Saturday I was in 25 knot winds (way overpowered on my 6.5) but still managed 21 knot speeds on the 1100. It was my second day of the season here, with Saturday being higher winds and my technique sucking.

LOL. SB doesn't even make the 75 anymore. I have one, and should sell it. But why not just go for the 115+?
