Hi all
Contemplating a foray into foiling, via windfoiling, from a windsurf background.
Not looking to set speed records, race, etc; just like the idea of cruising around in light conditions.

I see there are some good prices on gear from a few years back, like the Naish Hover and Naish Thrust WS-2.

What's the current wisdom? Is this gear still a good way into the sport, especially at discounted prices and given my aims of just some light-wind playing around rather than anything especially high performance?

(Would also be interested in opinions of the Thrust WS-2 vs the Pryde GlideWind, but perhaps I need to post that elsewhere)

Thanks in advance

Board is less important not all 2019 foils were that good. If you wanted to do it cheap I would go for slingshot hoverglide system. Not ideal mechanically but awesome wings and very cheap and still being supported

Which NP set are you looking at? The old blue or more current red/white. The older, original blue wings were a bit thick and slow and the tallest mast was 80-82cm which, imho, is barely tall enough. The newer KDW designed red/white wings (and original medium slim, iirc) are a bit more refined, a better stab and there is now an 85cm mast. It's a bit back-footed but most foils of that era were, too. Nice for riding around and fairly docile. I have a set so that I can wing/wind out of the same bag but don't use it often for windfoiling. I'm still a newbie winger and it does fine for me there (with wingfoil fuse).

watch out for Slingshot discounts too, especially for an Infinity 76 coming up. Matched to my Wizard 125, after 3 years we're still deeply in love on the flat of Poole harbour or out in the wind swell off Branksome after cutting my teeth off Fremantle. I have a 99 that is rarely used and a 'new' 65 for higher wind that I'm still getting to grips with. Use with knackered old wave sails it's great from 4.1 to 6.5

+1 for the Infinity 76. At home I use SABfoil and AFS gear. In Florida I use an i76 and have no reason to change. It just works.
