Third time on the Slingshot foil and iSonic today.... and had much more control thanks to 1 tiny little washer!

I raised the leading edge a mm or so and it really helped, I could then keep the nose down, about half the time. I actually had a few really long runs in total control... SO FUN!

That is me having fun....

But then, above 20kts and it all went back to having too much nose lift and I'd breach.

This is me going 21kts...

After my query about mast position of peoples foil boards, it turns out that a few comments suggested riding with the sail fairly far back... which surprised me a bit but I gave it a try,
www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/Windsurfing/General/Foil-Board-Dimensions-Mast-track-to-tail--

So, tips from today:
1. Keep the sail mast track back a bit, so you can lean forward if you need to
2. Don't try to close the gap! Keep mast more vertical.
3. "Ride the foil not the board" whatever that means
4. I might need to insert some new front foot strap screw holes forward a bit.
5. Avoid sailing in Westerlies... too gusty, 5kt to 20kt bit hard to deal with.

If you are thinking about foiling but haven't yet, when slogging try practicing transferring your weight fore and aft, sink the nose (or almost), then stomp the back foot and raise the nose, Repeat.

Hey berowne,
Following your posts with interest, I too have the slingshot foil but the wsf1 version.
After finding the same issue with keeping the nose down i rotated the switch fuse to bring the front foil closer to the mast.
My initial crash and burn sessions were based on the setup guide in the packaging which suggested fixing the front wing as close to the centre of the front and back footsteps as possible, as you said maybe for a dedicated foil board but not for a slalom board.

I am using a jp superlightwind 154l which is 90 wide, I find that the sudden plummet back down after a breach is not that bad with a wide board, the board tends to spin out similar to a normal fin before falling from grace.
Also I am having no problem at all maintaining board trim prt/stb.

I am using a 9.0 ncx so have quite a bit of influence over the foil and I am finding with the front wing further back, a more forward stance (so hard to retrain the ol brain after the lock and load slalom stance for so long!) and focusing on the horizon more than the nose of the board, I am so close to nailing the sweet spot.

Getting some long runs in but gybing without touching down is more a loooong term goal at this stage.

I have always had bizarre meanderings when out sailing and now Im hearing "USE THE FORCE STUMP" , "DO OR DO NOT, THERE IS NO TRY"
then a hologram of a little green mmm mmmgghh! Anyway back to the foil thing, @95 kgs the 9.0 still requires 8-10 kt gust to lift then its just something to hang onto but I'm finding its easier to trim with the rig than swinging my ass around on the board like mc hammer on acid.

Looking forward to reading about your progress.
