Hi, just moved to sunny coast - been foiling up at lake Cootharaba, (tried golden beach but to many sandbanks) just wantIng to know where else people foil around the area (including brisbane), I can find all the windsurfing spots online but know some of these arnt the best when using the foil...any local knowledge would be appreciated . Thanks
I am a Gold Coast windfoiler, but there are a solid number of windfoilers sailing out Brisbane's Manly area, best to contact Simon at Board Crazy Sailboards, he foils himself and will be able to hook you up with other regulars
cheers
Tony
Hi. We are having a foil how to and demo day at Manly on Sunday 23rd August (out the front of the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron). Great way to meet all the local foilers. See board crazy or Bayside Sailboards facebook page for event details.
I usually foil at Manly in a SE'er or NE'er. I generally launch from the rock wall at the end of Trafalgar St, cause I'd rather climb down the rocks then have to walk 100m to get to deep water. But most people sail from the end of Davenport Drive. There is usually always someone sailing there as long as there is wind, and if you get bored you can go round up all the little boat sailers haha. ![]()
Usually try to get down to Gold Coast or up to Sunshine Coast if I have a bit more time on the weekends. Sailed from S Esplanade in Bongaree on Bribie today in the Westerly. Good spot for foiling as you can rig 20m from the water, and you only have to walk in about 10m to get to foilable depth.
Keen to try sail the bay in front of Mooloolaba too once the NE'ers come back.

Queensland border restrictions will be reviewed on the 18th of August. Hopefully they'll be eased so us Southerners can came along to your demo day.
