Simon in his element today...

Fluky, freezing SSW 10-20 knots - made it look easy on a 3.7

So good. And for once it looked windier than stated. I noticed that after coming out of his duck jibe switch stance Simon moved his back foot forward first. Might have to try that.

Which stab is he using with his 799? Any shim?

I have been trying the 799 with the 399 stab on a 900 cm fuse, no shim. I can't make it fly at all, so I keep going back to my "slower" 950 with 450 stab on the 900 fuse, -1.0 deg shim with no other changes to board, mount, sail, or foil mast (105). Very possible that my combination (799/399/900/-1.0) is wrong.

If it's any help, the Medusa range uses the 430 stab with the 799.
I have the 899/430 and it's awesome. The 799 maybe different, but worth a try...

I use the 799 front foil with 399 stabiliser with 2deg shim ( thick part of shim under leading edge of stabiliser)
Segler, sounds like you need to shim for more lift

Power carves

Segler, I am a big fan of 799 with 450 stab no shim

Hey, great video, looking for a similar set up here in San Francisco. Are you using the Slingshot freestyle? 87 or 115? Thanks
Eric

That worked with the 799. I put a +2.0 deg shim onto the 399 stab and got plenty of lift. In fact, it was a tad too lifty. When I changed it to +1.5 deg it was goldilocks.

Thanks again. This forum is great for helpful advice like this.

Eric, board is a custom.

Similar to the SS 87 but thicker to pack a bit more volume in. If you need to float and ride the 87 is pretty extreme, I'd probably recommend a SS Freestyle 115 or Severn Predator 110 ( for a 80-90 kg person)

Yep, you did an amazing job

I'll be hitting you up for one when my W114 expires - surprised it's lasted this long.

Thank you! I'm 85kg so I'm looking at the Severne Predator 110, I'm coming from slalom race foiling so I'm also wondering if I can use any of my wings for the swell...I have the phantom 550 and 730...
