Sharing an impression of windfoiling action in South Estonia. To be exact: Saadjarve lake, which lies 25 km from Tartu (Estonia's second largest city). The temp on this day was "still warm": 8 degrees celsius. Should be +1 degrees celsius tomorrow when it's my next session. The windsurfing community is about 7-8 people. Windfoiling is 2 persons ![]()
Enjoy! Setup: Goya Bolt 127L (foil ready freerace board), 5.0 Fringe X, and AFS 95 foil with F800 front wing.
Wow - great effort in those temps - you guys are keen - I find it hard to ride a bike in those temps let alone get on the water - well done

Nice, thanks for sharing
So good to see windfoiling from around the world.
I hate windsurfing in cold weather* (yet, I do it every year). However, one great thing about those colder temperatures is the increased air density which lets you use almost a sail size smaller. It's a neat feeling getting that extra punch in the sail and how, at least where I live, it tends to make (or feel) the wind steadier.
That's a nice setup and video, MProject04. Your foil carves very nicely. Looking forward to some nice jibes in an upcoming video! You got my day off to a nice start.
*Probably because I never wear proper gloves or boots and the pain of feeling returning to the extremities is almost enough to make one vomit on the spot.

Open palm mittens work pretty good for me and I wear a type of sup windbreaker. I am toasty warm on the water, the worst part is changing.
I use booties year round, but it must be a challenge for those that normally ride barefoot

I use the mittens and booties but I tend to favor thinner ones so I don't have to go through the drill of adjusting foot straps which are fine for the other 10 months of the year. I have thicker ones but I'm not always as smart as my mother hoped I'd be.
Speaking of barefoot, I saw Maciek Rutkowski's video of comparing vintage gear and noticed he was using mittens/gloves getting everything ready and the next thing you see is him beach starting and he's barefoot. ![]()
