Sometimes when I drop off foil in a wind shadow near shore while tacking, the waves can be really confused, and if I feel like I might lose my balance I will use the uphaul to let the tail end of the boom/sail go in the water a little to steady me and the kit, acts like a sea anchor, which I have never used so guessing with the analogue. Usually only do it for a few seconds at most, keeps me upright on the board, the sail maybe 90-95% out of the water.

And sail is perpendicular to the water, so easy to pull back up.
