was windy enough to give it a go this afternoon
15 avg knts, choppy (medium)
had to drill larger holes on my board as it needs size 8 bolts.

used my faithful 111l hypersonic + 4.0 gator

different take off from my race setup and even from the supercruiser (SC)
dosen't need much speed to take off, you can pump the foil in the air easily, especially with a narrow board like mine
once up and going..... pure bliss ! took it as high as I could, didn't breach, very well behaved.
a very nice feeling of safety
back foot in the middle most of the time
carving is it's best quality, sharp turns on flat water or riding ocean swell
jibing... well I'll have to report later, wasn't a successful day, still trying to find the good timing on that board

had issues going tight upwind , will have to work on that
also noticed it didn't fly through lulls as well as I expected (had to pump it)
90 mast is stiff, has a beautiful profile, and doesn't flex( I'm 95kg)

all in all really happy, can't wait for the 1000 wing to see the difference

Cool decals. The hypersonic is an alien if you compare the shape to other boards.

Nice in red.
Why is the area written as cm/2 ?
Isn't area as cm2 ?

Reckon it will hit the advertised 20kt cruising speed?

Sean,
Thanks for sharing. It looks pretty. Did the 4.0 gator feel about right in 15 knots? I would love to hear how it behaves in 10-15 and how much more sail you would need to carry.

welcome !
@swoosh hopefuly.... , though I'd expect 20 to be more around max speed (for me !)

@nelle, yes gator was on it's sweet spot at 15, easy pumping and stability for a big unit like me. Not so easy to waterstart after a crashed jibe though.
Also hadn't rigged with enough downhaul, bottom batten was slightly in front of mast.
I'll give it a go on a bigger board and my 5.0 glide to see how it behaves in light wind.

With a 6.5M Unit I am nudging 20 knots when powered up but usually cruising around at 16 - 17 knots most of the time on bigger or smaller sails.
I've only had 30 odd sessions all up, probably 20 hrs flight time.
Other locals on the Redwing are regularly getting over 20 knots but they are more experienced

The equipment is capable but it depends on the pilot.
It's more about the Indian not the arrow

I also have a redwing but am looking for a foil for light wind with 6m Sailworks Flyer and Starboard X145. I am keen to hear how the redwing compares to the Supercruiser and whether there would be a big difference in light wind performance?

I'm looking at the Red Wing and Supercruiser Joff for early lift and good top speed the Red Wing does look really nice just wounder if anyone has any more feedback on the comparison between the two foils.
