Rigged and got out on the water, wind dropped, so decided to practice my "on the water gybe", figured it may help with my foiling gybe. After a few gybes I started noticing what my feet were doing, they were moving around a lot! Now it was light wind 4-8 knots with light chop. decided to focus on a two step gybe, step 1 was at the sail flip and tried to not move my feet from that position (feet semi-parallel on either side of board) until I came all the way around, step 2 was moving feet to standard position to head back up wind. It was hard, for first step had to place feet just right to keep balance through the gybe. But after a while I got it down, 2 steps without moving my feet in between them, really made me be centered, and that may help with my foiling gybe.
And then I started playing around going along with both hands off the boom while hooked in, could go for 10 seconds (1 thousand one, 1 thousand two --), found I could use the hook to help keep the rig balanced. I think Andy Brandt's Sail Chi lesson is starting to catch up with me!
The other thing I noticed is how much the board rocked during the gybe, I could keep my feet in place on the 1st step, but the board could still rock a bit while going through the gybe, so then focused on not rocking the board while keeping my feet in place, that was hard but was able to do it and the more wind the easier it was.
