Please find the link attached to the Notice of Race (NOR) and entry portal for the Patrik Windsurfing Bris Vegas Windfoil Pro & State of Origin.

www.rqys.com.au/brisvegas-windfoil-pro-state-of-origin/

We would like to send out a big thanks to Patrik Windsurfing for coming onboard as our major sponsor. Patrik will be coming across to the event and, along with team rider Bastien Escofet, will be offering a two-day coaching session on the Wednesday / Thursday before the regatta for anyone who is entered. More details will follow.

Patrik is offering up some great lucky draw prizes for all competitors including an 8 m foil sail. We will also have lucky draw prizes from Simon Fyfe at Board Crazy.

There will be the following classes and divisions
Open men
Open women
Youth
Grand Masters
IQFoil
Freeride / Rookie
State of Origin champion team (details to follow)

Races will be a mix of upwind / downwind, marathon and slalom if the winds are light.

We encourage anyone who is interested in joining the race class to come and try it out in the freeride division. There will be a sail size limit of 8 m and a reduced course will be used to help guide new racers into the discipline. Come learn from the best in the country and experience the excitement for yourself.

It's going to be a really exciting event. We've never had a state of origin before.
So good to see Patrik Windsurf come on board as a new key supporter of this event.
Also supporting are Board Crazy as always! and Greenroom Robotics.
Great work Mitch for organising this!

Just entered, looking forward to some fun racing.
Shame you changed the max sail size limits from the Formula Foil Rules. Especially considering your main sponsor even has a 11m sail available.

Hi Darryl,

I have discussed this with our race director. We are basing our decision on the submissions for equipment restrictions at the Formula Foil AGM and the subsequent vote by delegates. www.formulawindsurfing.org/news/2675

We are happy to discuss sail sizes once the decision by the class is made public.

Mitch

Thanks Mitch
yes let's see the outcome, I thought the original idea by Formula Foil was to be more inclusive so people could use their existing formula sails (12.5) etc but I see they are looking at that.
Plus I've just bought an 11m :((

The Aus Windsurf Committee decided to postpone the national titles until Sep / Oct as per their communication.

We didn't want to see summer go by without a proper foil event. We want to make sure windfoilers have sufficient big fleet opportunities and experience in order to improve their sailing. It's also great to get a big group of like minded foilers together.

Hi Darryl.

Just had a chat with our race director. We are going to stick to the NOR. So any size foil masts are OK for this regatta.

I am a little surprised they limited the mast length to 1000mm as there are already a few foils on the market at 1050mm and maybe the longest is the starboard long at 1100mm? Surprised they just didn't just limit it at that as the sweetspot seems to be 950-1000 anyway. It was a very close vote though (11/9) where all the other rules such as max sail size etc passed with a pretty big majority.

Seeing what I can do to make it up, hopefully everything doesn't go covid tits up again

Entries are up to 16 with a month to go!

With the NSW border restrictions in place, we need some more sailors from other states to sign up to make sure we can fund the event.

If you are sitting on the fence rest assured that this is an event not to be missed. Three days of great sailing on Moreton Bay with BBQ and lucky draw prizes from Patrik Windsurf International and Board Crazy Brisbane.

This is a great event to come try out racing for yourself. The freeride / rookie division will have good numbers where you can race against people at a similar level in a friendly and supportive environment.

There is cheap accommodation available on the bay including camping space and dorm rooms at Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron. Billeting with local sailors is also a possibility (contact us for details).

Hi all,

I'll be sailing in the Bay for the week prior to the event and helping with the Regatta. I've booked a house very close in Manly and am happy to share it with anyone visiting for the event. Please message me on here if you're interested and I'll get back to you promptly.

Cheers,

Greg.

22 entries and counting with just over two weeks to go!

If you have never raced before come give foil racing a go in the freeride / rookie division. We have 6 entries in this fleet already with another couple to come.

Should be a fun event!
