Hi im using the 115+ fuse and the standard old 225 stabilisers Can anyone tell me which shim would give the least drag and best potentially topspeed
I can regularly hit 22knts
Then lose stability and have to slow down or go down
Any advice is much appreciated

What front wing are you using? On the 115+ and 900/9.0 I'm running a +0.5 and 22kts is fairly normal. With the zero it feels more backfooted in the jibes.

The pros are definitely faster than me with that shim setup. I don't think they bother much with zero but I could be wrong, as I've gotten that secondhand.

I'm using the 900 wing and neilpryed v8 8m2 flight I tend to use 0 or -1 depending on if its light wind or full power day
I always feel very front footed my back foot is normally on the back foot strap screws holes (front holes of back strap)

Hmmm now I'm confused, is it the 255 (-2) or the several years old 255?
If it's the older stab (not -2), then the equivalent of what a lot of people are running would be a -1.5 shim. My +0.5 is with the (-2) stab, sorry!
Also, there are some very quick guys on this forum (not me) like berowne, cjw, White of Heart, etc. Berowne has a good index of threads www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/Windsurfing/Foiling/Foil-Racing-Index-of-All-Technique-Threads

The downwind and speed threads may be the most relevant.

The one with the less drag would be the -2 shim.

Aeroegnr I have just watched your YouTube video on shims thanks it was really helpful
I think I can definitely use less angle especially when the wind is more than say 12kns

Glad you found it useful! Yes someone very very good said he goes from +1 down to +0.5 at ~14kts, or from -1 to -1.5. I personally struggled a lot last time it was around that with the +1 and shifting half a degree to +0.5 helped tame it so much. I'm also no where near as skilled as the other racers, as a few of people here can verify

FYI apparently there are noticeable tolerance difference in the shims, so one -1.5 may not feel the same as a different one, but that's what I've been told and not experienced firsthand.

I want to change my 115 + fuse for the new evo one.

Somebody could let me know which corresponds in the evo version? Because on the ST web there only are:

- 120 evolution
- 115 evolution
- 115 evolution classic
- 105 evolution
.........

Thanks in advance.

-115++ is now 120 evolution
-115+ is now 115 evolution
-105+ is now 105 evolution

Correct me if this wrong

There must be something to the 115 classic. So many people wanted that old black fuse!

I have the carbon race foil 2020 with the 115 black, its a really good allround fuselage.

I use the 255 bw or the 255-2 , no worries about what back shim to use.

Just simple and good in all conditions, 1000 wing or 800 or 725 fw.

I surf an inland lake so perfect for super lightwind and good upwind angles.

When the wind gets stronger i put the 255-2.

I would love to try that classic style fuse but chances are I'd have to get a new evo front wing. Haven't seen any older black 115 fuses in the wild here.

I've got one, it's very stable but can still reach.

Feeling bad now that I pretty much gave one to a friend as I'm just really using the +. OTOH, it transformed his life from the 75 he was using.
