799 is really small area. how much wind does one need for this wing ? something like 20kts with a 5m sail ? just curious.

I believe that's the span? But even if it were the area, it's not that small. Most racing disciplines are on foils smaller than that.

I regularly use mine with a 3.7 or 3.4 in 18-20 mph average.
Takes just a little longer to get going than the 899

Yes 799 is the span, the area is 725cm2.

18-20 on a 3.7 . 3.4m ? Wow.. Either you are really light.or I suck. 18-20 I am on a 4.0 and my 926 or g800.

When it's windy enough the 799&340 tail is my favorite 4.2 down to 3.3. It took me a few sessions to get comfortable but it has about the same glide as the g800 you just have to learn to trust it.Me 82kg riding the 115 freestyle.

I guess what I am getting at. In whatever windspeed...I get up on my 926 with my 4.8m.....if I was to go out in same wind with the 799.....I would need a larger sail ?..............or stronger wind with the 4.8m

I have yet to try it with my 4.7 also haven't really played around with shiming or the 360 V tail I'll try a 1deg. next time I go and maybe swap tails to see if that helps with earlier lift. The 799 was ment to replace the G800 with it set up right and good technique it should do that.

At 85kg I ain't light. Not using the 926 unless it is 12-13 ( in which case I would likely go winging instead)
