Phantastic Summer on YouTube there is some footage of the Wizard and Phantasm, maybe someone can post the link.
Impressions after a summer on the PFI 730 Front Wing, PS 400 Stabilizer, 872 Fuselage, Wide body 103Wcm Mast
-The 730 wing has a significantly higher top speed and more range than the Infinity 76. The mast is rock solid and super stable, no more wobble like the aluminum mast. 103 is a great length, feels really high sometimes but lots of recovery room in waves and the 730 seems to recover well from near breaches at speed. It doesn't point quite as high upwind as the 76 did unless it's really well powered. Jibing felt way more stable than with the aluminum mast. All the hardware that came with the foil was good. The wing attaches with 3 different lengths of bolts so you have to pay attention when assembling.
-I also bought a Moses 1100 wing for light winds and winging. It fits the fuselage fine but I had to do some measuring to figure out which M6 bolts to use. Moses has also changed to M8 bolts for new version of the 1100 wings and made a high strength fuselage. The wing came with two sets of hardware, M6 bolts with cone shaped adapters and M8 bolts. I had to use a combination of the moses m6 bolts and phantasm bolts to make it work with similar thread depths to the 730. M8 bolts seem like a good idea for big wings, the W1100 seems like it could torque the fuselage pretty good.
-The Moses stabilizers don't have the same bolt spacing so i am stuck using the Phantasm 400 for now. Spacing on the phantasm stabilizer is 3cm, moses is 4.5cm(I think).
-The only other issue I had was that the t-nut bolts that attach the foil to the board (came with the Wizard) were too short to feel confident in the connection on my Wizard 130 v3. I did some measurements and 35mm seems to be the correct size to completely thread through the T-nut however it will bottom out without the mast attached so you can't store the hardware in the board. 30mm doesn't quite thread all the way through the t-nut but it's close.
-Starting to get a bit of corrosion on the sharp edges of the fuselage, hopefully it doesn't get worse.
-Overall I have no regrets with the Phantasm, the wing is stellar and the mast is super responsive and stiff. I couldn't jibe the aluminum 76 at all, felt bendy and unpredictable at my weight ( 225lbs), OK in a straight line.
-The case is super nice. I bought a small plastic container that fits with different compartments to organize my screws. They come in baggies that aren't very practical. The W1100 Moses wing actually fits inside the case with everything else, it's tight but it works and a smaller wing would fit better.
Impressions after a summer on the Wizard V3:
-Super fun and turny when airborne. I can tack it similar to tacking a shortboard, gotta be nimble.
-I run the Phantasm with the back of the pedestal set at around 1 - 1.5 on the track scale.
-I run the mast bast just back from center, almost in line or just behind the WIzard V130 text printed on the board.
-Footstraps are great, they squish down when you step on them but return nicely to shape
-Weight is a bit heavier than I was hoping. After I ordered it and before it showed up(due to covid delays), Slingshot changed the weight specs from:
Weight 18.26 lbs to 20.26lbs which was kind of a bummer.
In practice it doesn't feel super heavy but 2lbs is 2lbs
-Schlog speed is pretty slow and in marginal winds the guys I sail with that are my size but on longer boards(Starboard, Roberts etc) seem to get foiling a lot easier while I stand there and pump. I was schlogging with a guy on an older Dialer 130 and his board speed seemed to be almost double mine(still not enough to foil though). Possibly I'm a bit heavy for it at 225lbs or maybe the short wide shape needs a bit more wind to break free.
-I'd love to demo some different boards but to see how much difference there is. I definitely don't miss having a long nose when I'm foiling but where I live I need to make the most of light winds so early foiling is key.
-I tried Winging a few times with the Moses W1100. Was easy to get up and foiling with the foil all the way forward in the track and standing in front of the footstraps. Still more stoked on windsurf foiling for now, much faster and I get to chill out in my harness.
Happy Foiling!

Nice review and video ![]()
Where are you foiling?
I'm guessing Nicola Lake, Canada.
Big D - If I'm right, I didn't realize there was a decent wind foil crew out there. Maybe I'll head out next summer. Your video sells it. I usually don't go past Harrison.
Mike
Close but guess again. You got the BC part correct
. A lot of that footage was from a fairly light wind session. I mostly used a 4.2 or even 3.7 some days
Yes it's a great place. So much fun Windfoiling there. I did also get out on Nicola Lake the last few summers. Also a great spot for Windfoiling but definitely lonelier!
Nitinat Lake. I should have known. Kind of off my radar as, believe it or not, I've never been there in spite of great reviews. This make change with the Squamish spit access being literally cut off.
