Finally we got some, after the Aussies hoarded the stash of Slingshot Phantasm foils
, they are now starting to land in the U.S.
Weight :
Phantasm 926 with short fuse weighed 8.1lbs, the Hover Glide with i76 weighs in at 12.5 lbs
Pro's
1. Very first thing I noticed was how stiff the mast is, it gives you instant feedback! What does that mean exactly? it drives you from point A to B very quickly either upwind or downwind, You can also glide off the wind longer whilst staying in that power zone, when you gybe or turn it does not flex as much like an aluminum mast.
2.You can purchase a wider and stiffer mast called the 103W but I ride pretty upright and don't tend to hike off the rails as much. I also wing foil so the 92cm is one mast for both sports (Plus Florida also has some very shallow area's)
3. The 926 feels like the infinity 84 with terms of low end power but the 926 wing is much more refined through the water, no where near as much drag.
4.The next biggest difference was the exit of speed through the gybes, it felt like I was exiting quicker than going into a turn?
5. Picking up the board and foil, maybe not a big deal for some but my shoulders and back are a little worn out from 40 years of sports, windsurfing and foiling and so carrying everything together especially through surf zones is less impact on those ligaments.
Con's
1.If you have less than a year wind foiling, you may find the 926 sensitive under foot, it reacts way quicker than the hover glide foil, the 926 is not for beginners.
2. You may need to adjust your foiling stance and foil position, some wings are foot foot sensitive, so you will need to experiment with track and mast base positions. Spend time dialing it in.
3. Its Carbon you have to protect it, yes its stronger but not if you're throwing it around or letting the foil fall over, it does come with wing covers!
so, is this performance upgrade more than 10%?? ![]()
just messing with you dude. Thank you for the write up and giving everybody a video look at the new stuff. we've been waiting for this stuff for years now.
Clew View footage of the footwork is nice

Phantasm is a high performance foil for sure! and as you know not all carbon foils are equal with regards to my comment.
For riders really pushing to find the next free-foiling level they will certainly appreciate the phantasm and I think Slingshot sometimes
does an injustice to themselves (much like when the i99 wing came out and saying track boards only)...
The 926 is marketed firmly towards winging....buts its very much a crossover as I also tested it with a wing right after windfoiling it.
I'll be interested in hearing your Phantasm feedback seeing as you have used carbon foils for a while now?
Awesome review and riding Dean - worth the wait for carbon I'm sure ![]()
Phantasm waves/downwinding vid gotta be next? ![]()

Reckon I need the 730 wing for some swellage... but for some unknown reason all those wings are in Western Australia ![]()

Stoked you got your Phantasm![]()
Hows the glide on the 926, seems to fly through lulls and gybes without any loss of acceleration.
The combination of your mast cam and boom cam really do show your footwork clearly, smooth sailing![]()
Keep the videos coming
How many sq. cm. Is the 928? I keep reading that it's a "refined version of the i99".
The 926 is pretty unique! maybe you are thinking of the 928, that's much closer to the i99

Cheers Simon. The exit speed out of turns was exceptional, that really stood out too me. The longer I rode it more comfortable I felt and pulled off mid way no hands duckie because that's how long you have gliding around the turn ![]()
Because of an old back injury I have not been able to crank out the 360's lately so a bit rusty, but I did try 4 or 5 and each time the wing would just buck me off no matter how far forward I would lean, so if you get a chance to try the 926 see if you can whip that around with your stylish 360's.

How versatile do you think the PTM 928 would be for a guy who primarily uses the i84 for windfoiling and wingfoiling? Is it realistic to think it could be a one wing quiver for a while?
The 926 is pretty unique!
It's a lot like the Moses W945 and 940; Lokefoil Freeride, Axis HPS 930 and probably a few more. Nonetheless, glad that Slingshot is making a wider range of higher aspect wings and giving their users some choices.

Don't give up on those 360's Dean, the 926 is perfect for them!! It glides so nicely that your technique doesn't need to be perfect.
I think the key to a foiling 360 is going in with your front arm straight. Provided your body is upright and balanced over the board by straightening your front arm you are able to push the rig forwards and away. It's this pressure on the mast base that prevents overfoiling 2/3rds of the way around. It's only after you've passed downwind that the rig gets
racked back (front arm still straight) It's at this point that 926 will carry you around with ease.
Look forward to the footage

Meaning the 926 was unique compared to the infinity wing line up ![]()
The engine room is the 12k carbon mast though, it's a beast.

Great tips Simon, cheers for that.
a lot of muscle and positioning memory involved with 360s, and I was getting close! your straight front arm tip might be just the ticket.
next time for sure I'll go for it.

Until I try the 928 I'm not sure, sorry!
Also it's not just the front wing, the mast is adding to the exceptional performance. For heavier guys you will for sure notice a big difference.
Seen lots of questions phantasm on mast lengths.
72, 82, 92, 102, 103W and 82W will be available.

Are the black masts in the far left of the photo aluminium

Yes they are aluminum and have wider/stiffer versions of HG

I forgot about the 125W mast, that will be some serious height, ha!
So many platforms to choose from, for every wing size, taste and budget.
If you take the infinity wing sizes available right now there will be a phantasm LA and HA version in Carbon or Aluminum masts where you can get to choose exactly what you want. I love this idea! a true "A la carte" menu to tailor the foil for your needs.
Here is a video on the new line and HG options. Sorry, but somehow the start video link doesn't work correctly. Start at 4.27.
Its great that so much video information is uploaded on the new foil gear, slingshot are really going for it to provide foil solutions for everyone's budget.
Here's what all the foils look like. That 125 cm. mast is huge! The HA PTM 1001 wing looks like a great windsurf and wing foil.

Basically every mast, fuse and wing combo you could possibly imagine ![]()
Its awesome that you can mix and match HG and Phantasm however us foilers are so consumed with front wing shape etc. we are forgetting the mast as its not so "glamorous" and so having a phantasm front wing, fuse and rear wing on a aluminum HG mast I think will be an instant regret, that's like having a Ferrari with a diesel engine.
The phantasm 92 mast I have been testing for wind and winging is so good that I cannot praise it enough, its phenomenal...and that's not even the stiffest mast ![]()

I don't know if it's possible or even how beneficial it would be, but if you have the Hover Glide Fwind V3, could you update just the mast to the Phantasm mast? Surely it would have to increase performance and have greater strength.
I think at some point I would like to get into jumping and have seen some posts about bent masts from this, would this be a good option? How does the i76 wing go for jumping??? What are some other things to think about with mixing and matching the two lines???
On a bit of a different note.... have you seen anything on the new V3 wings yet?
I should have an update on V3's soon, stay tuned!

I have not seen anything on phantasm mast to HG Fuse, I don't think they will have that as the foot connection on the phantasm mast is so different. The biggest gripe folk had was the HG mast and fuse connection bolts.
HG and aluminum masts do not fair well in jumping (yes I have bent a couple) and main reason why I stopped jumping until the phantasm came out.
I preferred to jump the Time Code 68 wing as it was less wing area, but all you have to do is land a bit side ways and the mast does not like it.
