Anyone riding the new Patrick Aio foil?
Would love to hear some details about it.
Lift off speed; top speed; control; how it compares to the Aeon foil?
I can't compare it to the Aeon but I've ridden it for several days and it's at the top of my shopping list as soon as it gets off the boat to NBWindsurfing.
I tried the aluminum mast with a 105 fuse and the 95cm carbon mast with both 105 and 95 fuses. Tried both the 1300 and the 1120 wings. Hated the Aluminum mast. The Carbon mast was stiffer and more secure in the air (and much better when slogging1) The 105 fuse provides a lot of lift but was very poorly balanced on the Alien, which has the straps very far back compared to something like an IQ. The 95 fuse was much much better for me (same length as my usual Taaroa setup). The 1300 lifts early, jibes smoothly and is very easy to ride. Not all that fast - my top speed was 19kt which is the same as my Taaroa 1500. The 1120 is a different deal - foot it off, pump a couple of times and you're off. Super smooth, flew more jibes in an hour than I usually make in a week, top speed was 22kt but it'll cruise all day at 18. This was on Sailworks 8.5 and 7.0 in 10-18 mph winds.
The Tillo boys in Miami swear by the 1120 and 900 wings on the 115 fuse, but their Tillo and Starboard boards have the straps further forward. They can foil the 1120/115 in 8 (I've seen that) and claim to go in 6-7 which I'd believe.
My plan is to buy the 95 fuse/95 Carbon mast/250 stab and the 1600 wing for ultra-light wind since I spend most of the summer on an inland lake. once my wallet has recovered I'll add either the 1120 or 900 for stronger winds. I'd expect the 1120 to be my daily driver in Tampa Bay.
(I'm an intermediate foiler, 105kg, 70 years old, rarely fall, fly my jibes 20% of the time. I usually ride bigger foils and bigger sails than most others because of my weight and lousy pumping skills. My usual foils are Taaroa or Starboard. Board is a severn Alien 155.)
Have enjoyed using the AIO foil set with HM carbon mast for a few years on various boards. my current favourite is Alien 125 with 900 or 700 main wings on 105 fuse with ezzy wave sails. the 900 & 700 foils are fast free ride with good windward performance, nice turning and low stall speed for glide time in gybes. I started with the Patrik FoilOne club racing config (900 wing / 115 fuse) then added other components (1120 and 700 wings, 105 fuse, etc) to use with smaller boards. The AIO is versatile because of the various options but is not as fast or refined as the AEON or F4 foil sets.
I think the Simmer Style is the exact same foil : simmerstyle.com.au/collections/simmer-foils
Yes the Simmer parts are interchangeable with Patrik AIO. Zeeko is the Original Design Manufacturer.
