For those posting on ka72 in "windfoiling worlwide" you might have noticed a new poster Matt91, with a top speed of 34.3 !
He 's a local over here, only turned 16 last month !!
His eyes are set on Nicolas Goyard ! way to go but it's only his third session with a gps and a 550 wing !!![]()

This is fantastic to see Sean a new generation of equipment and windsurfers
Go Matt !
And Sean i was thinking you were the one cracking the 30kts on KA72 this month ![]()
Hahaha I wish !!! I can only stand on the beach, admire and upload the kid's files !
I'll be back on the water around april, and it'll be a slow and safe return on the foil !!
Just before Xmas I had a bad crash, landed on my boom and tore my biceps out of the elbow
, surgery, cast, started slow rehab this week.
So not too tempted to go fast like that kid !!! ![]()

Sorry to hear about the crash, I'm sure you'll enjoy being back out there in April
All best with the rest of the recovery period
I look forward to following Matt pushing the limits
Cheers
Tony

Those are impressive numbers. :)))
I wish is wasn't so afraid of crashing and injury these days.
Those speeds are amazing and congratulations to the "kid", Sean. He seems an amazing talent and there is nothing more our sport needs more than more kids! Thank you for setting up the KA72 WIndfoiling group. It has been an amazing motivator for me personally to improve. I just wonder if when posting "big" numbers we need to have some tighter restrictions on the GPS devices used. (no dispute on the "kids" results) I appreciate that the group was only for "a bit of fun" and I am prepared to have fruit and insults thrown at me for suggesting this. I haven't really considered how this may work! ![]()

Amazing numbers and skill by the young fellow, hes going places.Great to see the younger generation coming into the sport.
Without this platform "for fun" we probably wouldn't see alot of people posting. Also great to see the members increasing.
Maybe in the future as foiling gets even more popular GPSTC may set up an official platform for foilers to post.
Happy foiling
agree with all the comments above, device wise I'd rather keep faith in people having a quick look at their files, then starting an approved device system.
Rule of thumb if your vmax is more than 1 knot above your 100m speed, there could be an issue, please double check your file or send it to someone with analysis software. (me ; decrepit
LOL )
GPS speed surfing has a foil page now, and they are not immune to bad results posts. The third fastest guy (36knts) has a 100m speed of 32, and on a foilX board with a 1000 wing and 330 fuselage, very unlikely ! ![]()
Unlike Ka72 you can't download the file to check it.
www.gps-foilsurfing.com/?mnu=rankings
they have a green and yellow colour code for approved devices.

Thanks everyone for contributing to windfoiling worldwide, hopefully it keeps growing and any suggestions of improvements are welcome !
I thought someone with a jet ski had joined the group![]()
Well done young fella, great results
.
If this was his third session with a GPS please don't tell us it was only his 4th session on a foil.
How long has he been foiling?
Sean, great work in setting up the group, I'm enjoying the friendly competition and doing my best to improve. As a suggestion can the 1 hour category be added or if not the 500m removed and the hour to replace it. Having three straight line speed categories is a bit overkill and the 1 hour is a better gauge of everyone's over all ability.
Just a suggestion but happy either way.

I like the 500M category on the foil and I reckon it's the best indicator of overall speed. (The 2 sec can get a bit "peaky" on trackpoint data too) I do agree with you on the hour though. My vote would be to drop the distance category in favor of the hour.
I was in the group but can't compete with all the guys posting with their Garmins. I understand it's for fun but I've done 33 with my Garmin yet 27 on GW60 in same session, if only I knew how to post with it ?? but then again I wouldn't because I don't need to appear better than I actually am. My biggest improvement came by using my Garmin. It's a great idea just giving another perspective on it. Happy Foiling ![]()
If you look at the 500m rankings, it gives you an idea of how good Nico Goyard really is.
btw, Julien Bernard of AFS said recently that he really uses 500 as the benchmark because it indicates not only speed but the stability of the foil and skill of the rider to keep it glued together for that distance.
